Texans drop series finale to Seattle U

BELLEVUE, Wash. – Tarleton kept it close with Seattle U for a second consecutive game but ultimately dropped the rubber game, 6-2, to the Redhawks on Sunday afternoon at Bannerwood Park.
 
Tarleton (23-18, 7-12 WAC) scored three runs in the second inning but brought home just one more through the remainder of the game. They outhit Seattle U (15-25, 11-10 WAC) 9-8 but could not get the runs they needed for the win.
 
Devon Patel (L, 2-1) started on the mound and was credited with the loss. He threw 3.2 innings allowing five runs on five hits with two walks and no strikeouts.
 
Matt Haley threw 4.0 innings in relief for Tarleton in what was his longest outing of the season. He allowed just one run, striking out three and walking none.

Tarleton plated three in the second inning to take a 3-1 lead. Jordan Andrade and Mason Crews each had RBI singles with the third run coming off a Mason Hammonds fielders choice RBI.
 
Seattle U tied the game in the bottom half of the second with two runs of their own. They plated two more in the fourth to take a 5-3 lead, a lead they would not give up.
 
Tarleton cut it to 5-4 in the seventh as Cris Enriquez hit a groundout RBI, but that was all the Texans mustered as Seattle U added another run in the eighth.
 
Alec Williams had three hits and a run scored to lead Tarleton. Andrade had two hits, an RBI and a run scored.
 
The Texans now turn their attention to Texas A&M as they travel to Blue Bell Park on Tuesday for a 6 p.m. game that will be streamed on SEC Network +.
