DENTON, Texas – Tarleton State kicked off their fall season in Denton, Texas, competing in their first of four tournaments.
The Texans traveled to North Texas where they took part in the Diving Eagle Invite Friday-Sunday. Over the three days the Texans combined for 23 wins in singles and doubles, going 9-6 in doubles on the weekend.
Martha Makantasi and
Maretha Burger starred in Denton, winning the Doubles A draw.
"We had a great weekend overall," said head coach
Elianne Douglas-Miron. "Big shout out to Martha and Maretha who embraced the challenge of never having played together in a match and won the A draw. They beat tough opponents and had wonderful energy together. I'm happy with how much we improved over three days and look forward to a few more events this fall."
Makantasi and Burger led the weekend for the Texans going 4-0 as they won their A draw in doubles. On the road to the victory for Makantasi and Burger they defeated LA Tech, WAC foe SFA and the host UNT twice.
Elsa Boisson and
Noelia Lorca tallied up a 3-1 doubles record taking third place in the A draw doubles with wins over Louisiana Lafayette, UT Arlington and UNT.
Emma Persson and
Ximena Morales also posted a winning record on the weekend going 2-1 with wins against McNeese State and SFA.
Next up the Texans will travel down I-20 to Abilene Christian as they will compete in the ACU Women's Fall Invite in Abilene, Texas. The Purple and White will start tournament play on Friday, Sept. 29, and compete through Sunday, Oct. 1.
