STEPHENVILLE, Texas – The Tarleton State men's basketball program will make yet another appearance on ESPNU in the 2024-25 season. ESPN released on Monday that the Feb. 22 contest between Tarleton State and UT Arlington at the College Park Center will be aired on ESPNU at a time to be announced at a later date.
"Exciting to hear," said head coach
Billy Gillispie upon hearing the news. "We've been fortunate to have as much exposure as anyone in our league over the years because of the competition we've played and the recognition that Tarleton is a fast-rising athletic program that deserves the attention. It's another great honor as we continue to develop a top-notch Division I championship-caliber program. Go Texans!"
Last season, the Texans took on UT Arlington at the Orleans Arena in the semifinals of the WAC Tournament on ESPNU. The contest was the only WAC Tournament semifinal broadcast on a linear network last year. The rivalry between the Texans and Mavericks went the Texans way in the regular season with a pair of Tarleton victories to win the season series.
Tarleton State University will be featured on another ESPN linear after Tarleton Football hosted McNeese State on ESPN2 during Week O this fall. That contest marked the first Tarleton home game on a linear network in its Division I era. Tarleton was the first WAC school to host an ESPN linear network this season.
The rest of the Texans' 2024-25 conference games will be played on ESPN+. Tarleton will take on six Power four conference opponents this season in the non-conference slate. The Texans will play on Big Ten Network against Michigan and make a pair of appearance on ACCXN against SMU and Florida State.
Tarleton will open its exhibition slate on Monday with a 7 p.m tip against UT Tyler in Wisdom Gym. The Texans will open their regular season campaign on Monday, Nov. 4 in Dallas against SMU at 7:30 p.m.
