Tarleton Women’s Basketball falls at No. 4 nationally ranked Texas

AUSTIN, Texas – Tarleton State Women's Basketball was defeated by No. 4 nationally ranked Texas 83-41 at the Moody Center Wednesday afternoon.

Senior guards Arieona Rosborough (11 points) and Miannah Little (10 points) led the Texans in scoring, with Little obtaining a season-high for points off 57% shooting. Senior forward Elise Turrubiates led the Texans on the glass with seven rebounds, obtaining her 300th career board in the process. Freshman guard Grace Booth added a season-high five rebounds to go with her first collegiate basket as a Texan.

After scoring on its first possession, Texas stretched its lead to double-digits in the opening period with 60% shooting. The Texans scored on two of their last three possessions through the first 10 minutes, but the Longhorns remained ahead after the opening period.

A 3-pointer by Little opened Tarleton State's second quarter scoring and Booth's first career basket on its next offensive possession gave the Texans an early lift. Texas, however, shot 53% in the second quarter to take its lead into the locker room.

Texas opened the second half scoring with a pair of free throws and responded to a Tarleton State layup by converting a basket on its next possession. Texas converted two free throws and a layup before the third period came to a close, but Rosborough knocked down two free throws with six seconds left in the quarter.

The Longhorns outscored the Texans 13-5 in the final period en route to the win in Austin.

Tarleton State continues its road trip next week, traveling to Houston Christian for a 6 p.m. showdown on Tuesday, November 26.
