Tarleton State Women’s Basketball starts Feast Week road trip at Houston Christian Tuesday

HOUSTON – Tarleton State Women's Basketball begins a three-game road trip this week, starting with an evening contest at Houston Christian Tuesday at 6 p.m. 

The game will be available to watch on ESPN+ and fans can listen to Clayton Neville's radio call on Tarleton Sports Network. Neville will have a 30-minute pregame show starting at 5:30 p.m. and a 30-minute postgame show following the game. 

MATCHUP NOTES
  • Tarleton State will play Houston Christian for the first time in program history on Tuesday. 
  • HCU is the third team from the Southland Conference the Texans will face this season. Tarleton State is currently 2-0 against teams from the Southland this season (New Orleans, Northwestern St.).  
  • Both schools reclassified to NCAA Division I in the last 15 years (HCU in 2013, Tarleton in 2020).  
TERRIFIC TURRUBIATES
  • Senior forward Elise Turrubiates grabbed a career-high 11 rebounds, including five offensive boards, against New Orleans (11/12).  
  • It was her first game with at least 10 boards since Feb. 18, 2023 (at Sam Houston).
  • Turrubiates also had a career-high five steals against New Orleans (11/12), the third game of her career with at least five or more steals.
  • She is the second Tarleton State player in the Division I Era to have at least three games with five or more steals. 
  • Turrubiates grabbed surpassed the 300 career rebounds mark at #4 Texas (11/20). She became the 16th player in the WAC to pass 300 career boards.  
NEW FRIENDS IN FAMILIAR TERRITORY
  • Tarleton State plays nine opponents from the state of Texas this season, meeting four of them for the first time in program history. 
  • The Texans have met UTEP (L, 49-52 on Nov. 4) already this season. 
  • Tarleton State faces Houston Christian, Texas State and LeTourneau for the first time in the regular season in program history.
  • The Texans have a record of 0-1 this season against Texas teams they played for the first time. 
  • Tarleton State will travel 1,092 miles to play its opponents from Texas during the 2024-25 season. 
  • Tarleton State will visit six of the top seven largest cities in Texas in 2024-25 (Dallas/Fort Worth is counted due to the Texans flying either from Love Field and/or DFW Airport when traveling by airplane). 
PEAK PERFORMER
  • Tarleton State signed former Mary Hardin-Baylor star Arieona Rosborough this past season. 
  • In just her second game, Rosborough scored a season-high 21 points at Arizona (11/7), the second 20-point performance against a Power 4 conference opponent in program history
  • She earned a plethora of honors at UMHB, including three times being named ASC All-Conference First Team, ASC Player of the Year, and ASC Defensive Player of the Year. 
  • She was twice named to ASC All-Conference Defensive Team, ASC Freshman of the Year, Dave Campbell's Texas Basketball Non-DI All-Texas Defensive Player of the Year, WBCA All-America Honorable Mention, and D3hoops.com First Team All-Region. 
  • She played 80 career games (74 starts) for the Cru, averaging 15.1 points and eclipsing the 1,000-point mark by scoring 1,210 career points.  
EXPECT MORE, DEMAND MORE
  • The theme for Tarleton State Women's Basketball in 2024-25 is "Expect More, Demand More". 
  • The Texans clinched their first postseason conference tournament win in the NCAA Division I Era. 
  • Tarleton State defeated in-state rival Abilene Christian 54-41 in the 2024 WAC Tournament for their first Division I conference tournament.  
  • Tarleton State is now NCAA postseason eligible after going through the transition period in Division I.
