Tarleton Women’s Basketball faces Delaware, Nicholls in Big Easy Classic this weekend

WESTWEGO, La. – Tarleton State Women's Basketball wraps up its Feast Week road trip this weekend with games against Delaware and Nicholls Friday and Saturday. 

The Texans will take on Delaware on Friday at 5:45 p.m. while wrapping up the multi-team event with Nicholls on Saturday at 8 p.m. This will be the first time meeting Delaware and Nicholls in women's basketball. 

The game will be available to watch on YouTube and fans can listen to Clayton Neville's radio call on Tarleton Sports Network. Neville will have a 30-minute pregame show starting at 5:15 p.m. on Friday and 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. A 30-minute postgame show will follow each game. 

MATCHUP NOTES
  • Delaware is coming off a close loss against Providence on Sunday. 
  • The Blue Hens have reached five NCAA Tournaments, including the Sweet 16 in 2013.
  • Nicholls has won two out of its last three games, with its lone two losses of the season having a combined scoring margin of eight points. Their last two wins have come by double-digits.
BENCH BOOST
  • Tarleton State has had a major lift off its bench this season, most recently at Houston Christian (11/26). 
  • Led by senior guard Miannah Little with 17 points off the bench, the Texans had 23 points come from its bench on Tuesday. It was the third time this season the Texans have had 20 or more points scored from the bench. 
  • The Texans are 3-0 in games this season when the bench scores at least 20 points.
  • The Texans got a lift from their bench against Northwestern St. (11/16) with 40 bench points in the win over Northwestern State, with the bench scoring 55% of Tarleton State's points. 
  • Senior guard Tyler Jackson led Tarleton State's reserves with 11 points off the bench. It was the most bench points by Tarleton State since Feb. 1, 2024 (vs. Abilene Christian). 
  • Tarleton State has a record of 4-2 under head coach Bill Brock when the Texans' bench scores at least 30 points. 
  • Tarleton State had a season-high 73 points in the win against Northwestern State (11/16). The Texans' bench accounted for 55% of Tarleton State's scoring. 
  • Tarleton State's starting five accounted for over 60 percent of the scoring in the Texans' first three games of the 2024-25 season. 
AWESOME ACKER
  • Sophomore center Faith Acker matched a career-high four blocks against New Orleans (11/12) to go with a season-high 10 points and seven rebounds. 
  • She has blocked four shots in three different games during her Tarleton State career.
  • She currently has the second-most games in the Division I Era with at least four blocks (3).
  • Acker is also second in the Western Athletic Conference in blocks and blocks per game.
  • She is less than 20 rebounds away from collecting 200 career rebounds as just a sophomore, having 157 in her freshman season to average over five boards per game. 
TERRIFIC TURRUBIATES
  • Senior forward Elise Turrubiates grabbed a career-high 11 rebounds, including five offensive boards, against New Orleans (11/12).  
  • It was her first game with at least 10 boards since Feb. 18, 2023 (at Sam Houston).
  • Turrubiates also had a career-high five steals against New Orleans (11/12), the third game of her career with at least five or more steals.
  • She is the second Tarleton State player in the Division I Era to have at least three games with five or more steals. 
  • Turrubiates grabbed surpassed the 300 career rebounds mark at #4 Texas (11/20). She became the 16th player in the WAC to pass 300 career boards. 
  • Turrubiates, who leads the Texans in rebounding, was one board shy of her second double-digit rebounding game with nine in the road win at Houston Christian (11/26).
