Tarleton Women's Basketball faces old Lone Star Conference foe St. Mary's (TX) Saturday

STEPHENVILLE, Texas  – Tarleton Women's Basketball goes up against an old Lone Star Conference foe in St. Mary's (TX) Saturday at 2 p.m. at Wisdom Gym. 

The Texans are offering "Holideals" for fans for both the women's and men's games on Saturday. 
 
For the Tarleton Women's Basketball and Men's Basketball doubleheader at Wisdom Gym on Saturday, fans can purchase a $10 ticket that grants entry to both games. So, fans need just a single $10 ticket to watch the women's basketball team take on St. Mary's (TX) at 2 p.m., and the men's basketball game featuring Tarleton State and Howard Payne at 4 p.m.
 
Fans can purchase either a ticket for the women's basketball game or the men's basketball game, which will grant entry to both games on Saturday. Tickets are available at www.tarletonsports.com/tickets.


Early arriving fans will also receive a free Tarleton mini basketball and hoop set. 

The game will be available to watch on ESPN+ and fans can listen to Clayton Neville's radio call on Tarleton Sports Network. Neville will have a 30-minute pregame show starting at 1:30 p.m. and a 30-minute postgame show will follow each game. 

MATCHUP NOTES
  • Former Lone Star Conference rivals Tarleton and St. Mary's (TX) will meet for the first time in four years on Saturday. 
  • St. Mary's (TX) won an overtime thriller in their last time playing at Wisdom Gym (LOT, 67-74) on Feb. 20, 2020. 
  • Tarleton faces St. Mary's (TX) for the first time since the Texans moved to Division I, which includes exhibition games. The schools are approximately 200 miles from each other and four hours away. 
AWESOME ACKER 
  • Sophomore center Faith Acker has been a great scoring and rebounding threat for the Texans this season.
  • Acker made 10 of her 11 shots and scored a season-high 21 points to go with nine rebounds in the win at Arkansas State (12/19). Acker's 90.9% shooting set a new single game Division I program record with the highest field goal percentage (min. 10 shot attempts).
  • Acker currently leads the Texans in double-doubles with two this season. Her most recent one came at #24 Nebraska (12/11) with 10 points and 11 rebounds.
  • Acker had the first Tarleton double-double against a nationally-ranked opponent (#24 Nebraska, 12/11) in the Division I Era. Her 11 rebounds were the most by a Texan player against a Power 4 conference opponent in the Division I Era.
  • She surpassed the 200 career rebounds as just a sophomore against LeTourneau (12/7), having 157 in her freshman season to average over five boards per game.
  • She has blocked four shots in three different games during her Tarleton State career.
  • Acker recorded her first double-double of the season against Delaware (11/29) with 17 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Texans to victory.
  • She currently has the second-most games in the Division I Era with at least four blocks (3).
PEAK PERFORMER 
  • Tarleton State signed former Mary Hardin-Baylor star Arieona Rosborough this past season. 
  • Rosborough has three 20-point games this season, most recently collecting a season-high 22 points to go with 10 rebounds at Arkansas State (12/19). The senior guard had seven assists, three dimes shy of the program's second triple-double and first since 1982. 
  • Following a 20-point outing against Nicholls (12/30, Rosborough was named to the Fleur-De-Lis All-Tournament Team at the 2024 Big Easy Classic. 
  • In just her second game, Rosborough scored a season-high 21 points at Arizona (11/7), the second 20-point performance against a Power 4 conference opponent in program history. 
  • She earned a plethora of honors at UMHB, including three times being named ASC All-Conference First Team, ASC Player of the Year, and ASC Defensive Player of the Year. 
  • She was twice named to ASC All-Conference Defensive Team, ASC Freshman of the Year, Dave Campbell's Texas Basketball Non-DI All-Texas Defensive Player of the Year, WBCA All-America Honorable Mention, and D3hoops.com First Team All-Region.
  • She played 80 career games (74 starts) for the Cru, averaging 15.1 points and eclipsing the 1,000-point mark by scoring 1,210 career points.  
EXPECT MORE, DEMAND MORE
  • The theme for Tarleton State Women's Basketball in 2024-25 is "Expect More, Demand More". 
  • The Texans clinched their first postseason conference tournament win in the NCAA Division I Era. 
  • Tarleton State defeated in-state rival Abilene Christian 54-41 in the 2024 WAC Tournament for their first Division I conference tournament.  
  • Tarleton State is now NCAA postseason eligible after going through the transition period in Division I.
