NORMAN, Okla. – Tarleton State (12-15) made the trek north to face the top team in the country Tuesday night in Oklahoma (24-1).
 
This marks the Texans second ranked opponent faced this season as they faced then No. 2 Texas during the 2024 Longhorn Invitational. The Sooners of Oklahoma came into the game ranked No. 1 once again after falling to No. 2 spot the week before following their first and only loss of the season so far to then unranked Louisiana.

Game 1 was all Sooners as they threw their first no-hitter of the 2024 season. Things got off to a quick start as Jayda Coleman sent 
Alexa Rehmeier first pitch of the night over the center field wall giving OU the early 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first.
 
The Sooners then scored another run as Kasidi Pickering scored off an error from Texan catcher 
Kalyn Hill. Oklahoma added one more run in the bottom of the first as Cydney Sanders hit a sac fly to left scoring Alyssa Brito making it 3-0 Sooners.
 
Following OU's three-run first, Tarleton State held the Sooners scoreless in the second, third and fourth innings.
 
In the bottom of the fifth the Sooners put up a five-spot run-ruling the Texans and earning their 23rd win of the season. Sanders homered to right field putting Oklahoma up 6-0. Ella Parker then doubled to left center scoring Maya Bland making it 7-0. The winning run for the Sooners came as Alynah Torres singled up the middle scoring Parker from third.
 
For the Texans, Rehmeier (3-3) went the distance for the Texans going 4.1 innings as she gave up eight runs on eight hits. She also walked six and struck out one.
 
Oklahoma threw their ace vs. the Texans in Kelly Maxwell (7-0) as she too went the distance going 5.0 innings giving up no runs on no hits and struck out seven, just one short of her season high of eight which was set against Iowa this past Saturday. The left-handed grad student has now pitched 42.0 innings on the season and struck out 46 batters.

Game 2 of the day saw the Texans get a little more comfortable as they were able to get five hits off of Oklahoma's Nicole May and Karlie Keeney and score a run in the top of the fourth.
 
The Texans came out swinging in Game 2 as 
Kelci Hill hit a leadoff single up the middle followed by 
Kayla Wallace's double down the right field line moving 
Kelci Hill to third. After the quick start by 
Kelci Hill and Wallace, two Texans struck out looking and the other grounded out to third base ending the Purple and White's threat to strike first.
 
Oklahoma picked up right where they left off in Game 1 as Sanders hit her second long ball of the day over the left field wall giving the Sooners the early 3-0 lead once again.
 
Riley Ludlam singled through the left side driving in two more runs for OU making it 5-0. Hannah Coor then homered to right field putting the Sooners up 7-0 after one inning of work.
 
In the top of the second the Texans leadoff runner once again reached, this time in 
Tristyn Trull as she singled up the middle. Oklahoma then got three straight outs ending the hope of Tarleton State once again.
 
After going scoreless in the bottom of the second OU put the game in run-rule territory as Coor hit a sac fly to center scoring Torres making it 8-0 home team.
 
In the top of the fourth the Texans leadoff hitter reached once again this time in 
Austin Germain who was hit by a pitch. She was then thrown out as second as Trull reached base on a fielder's choice. 
Kalyn Hill then followed with a double to right center scoring Trull making it 8-1 Sooners and taking the game out of run-rule territory. 
Jordan Dickerson then lined out to second base to end the inning.
 
OU put the game right back into run-rule territory with a four-spot in the bottom of the fourth. Rylie Boone doubled to right center driving in a run making it 9-1 Sooners. Bland then grounded out to the pitcher as Avery Hodge scored Oklahoma's 10th run of the game. Ludlam singled up the middle scoring Boone making it 11-1 home team. The Sooners final run of the game came as 
Kynlee Marquez walked in a run scoring Torres.
 
Four Texans collected hits vs. the reigning national champions as 
Kelci Hill collected two hits while Wallace, Trull and 
Kalyn Hill all had one each.
 
For the Texans, 
Hannah Blincoe (4-3) got the start and took the loss as she went 0.2 innings giving up four runs on one hit and walked two. 
Makenzie Dunbar went 0.1 IP giving up three runs on two hits and walked two as well. Redshirt Freshman 
Kendall Daniel went the furthest for the Texans going 2.1 innings as she gave up five runs on five hits, striking out one and walking three. Marquez went the final 0.2 IP giving up no runs on no hits and walked two.
 
For Oklahoma, they used just two pitchers over the five-inning stretch. The Texans saw the Sooners two and three in May (8-0) and Keeney. May got the start and collected her eighth win of the season as she went 3.0 innings giving up no runs on three hits and struck out four. Kenney took over in the fourth inning and gave up one run on two hits, striking out three and hitting one.
 
The Texans will be back in action this weekend out west in Utah as they will open conference play vs. Utah Valley Friday-Saturday. Tarleton State is set for two on Friday at 3 p.m. CT and 5:30 p.m. CT. The final game of the series will come on Saturday at 2 p.m. CT.
