STEPHENVILLE, Texas – Tarleton State has greatly enjoyed being in the Western Athletic Conference, with no need to look further past a single reason – winning.

The Texans (13-2, 4-0 WAC) had another comfortable win on Saturday at the Tarleton Tennis Facility to improve to 21-3 in WAC play since joining the conference. They took care of Seattle U (7-7, 2-2 WAC) 5-2 to remain tied atop the WAC standings with GCU at 4-0, improving to 7-1 at home this season. Tarleton is 22-4 in Stephenville across the last three seasons. They have an active four-match winning streak.

Seattle U is by no means an inferior opponent. The Redhawks have already knocked off Stephen F. Austin and Abilene Christian on the road, plus gave Grand Canyon everything they could handle in a 4-3 loss.

This is Tarleton's best mark through 15 matches of a season since 2005. They are 4-0 against the Redhawks since joining the WAC, outscoring them 21-5. This was Tarleton's first time hosting Seattle U.

Tarleton swept all three doubles matches to start the day, dealing the Redhawks' first doubles point loss in WAC play. First
Elsa Boisson and
Ximena Morales knocked off Elena Kraleva and Liliya Dimova 6-2 on Court 2. Then
Noelia Lorca and
Emma Persson clinched the doubles point on Court 3 with a 6-4 win against Lamija Avdic and Lola Tavcar. On Court 1,
Martha Makantasi and
Maretha Burger completed the doubles sweep with a 6-4 win against Yuna Kadowaki and Anastasia Nikolova. Persson and Lorca are now 11-1 together, Makantasi and Burger are now 11-4 on Court 1, and Boisson paired with Morales improved to 4-1. The Texans are 33-11 (.750) across doubles action.

In singles, the Texans won four of six matches, with all four wins coming in straight sets.

Lorca started the winning with handing her opponent a bagel in the second set, defeating Kadowaki 6-3 6-0 on Court 4 to make it 2-0 Tarleton State. Lorca has won four straight singles matches and is now a team-best 14-1 in singles play.

Morales provided the next victory on Court 5 with a 6-3 6-2 win over Tavcar. This marked Morales' third singles match of the season, where she's now 2-1.

Makantasi clinched the team victory on Court 3 with a 6-4 6-2 win against Dimova. Makantasi is now 13-2 in singles, with four straight wins.

After Seattle U got on the board on Court 2 with an Avdic victory over Boisson 6-3 6-4, Tarleton's
Adeliya Mukhutdinova defeated the Redhawks' Nikolova 7-5 6-2 on Court 6. Mukhutdinova is now 4-2 this season.

Seattle U's Kraleva won the match on the top court against Persson 4-6 6-2 1-0[10-4].

The Texans will wrap up a three-match homestand on Friday at 10 a.m. Only three regular season matches remain before the WAC Tournament.
