Not only is Texan Volleyball finally in town for their home debut, they will also be moving next door to their permanent playing surface: the main portion of Wisdom Gym.
TARLETON STATE VOLLEYBALL captured their first win of the season against New Mexico in their first match of the Lumberjack Classic in Arizona. The Texans finally bring the squad back to Stephenville to host their home opener in the main portion of Wisdom Gym, where Texan Basketball plays as well. Their first game will be Thursday night at 7 p.m. to host Oral Roberts. In honor of this being their first match in this section of Wisdom Gym, there will be free, branded mini volleyballs given away to early arriving fans. Following their home opener, the team then hosts the Tarleton State Invitational. The first match of the invitational will be the Texans against Alcorn State at 10 a.m. on Friday. This will be an Education Day, with hundreds of first and second graders from Chamberlin Elementary School attending to cheer on the Texans. Their next game will be the same day, hosting Houston Christian at 6 p.m. for Greek Night. The invitational will wrap up on Saturday at 6 p.m. when the Texans close things out with Louisiana Monroe. Following the match, fans will have the opportunity to take the court and grab postgame autographs from the team on schedule posters provided to them. Texan Volleyball will begin conference play on the road following their invitational, headed to Southern Utah Sept. 26.
TEXAN MEN'S GOLF tees off their 2024 fall season up north in Colorado Springs at the Gene Miranda Falcon Invitational, hosted by Air Force. This will begin on Saturday and wrap up on Monday. Their next competition will be back up in Colorado at the Mark Simpson Invitational Sept. 30-Oct. 1.
TEXAN WOMEN'S GOLF begins the week for Tarleton State Athletics, as well as their 2024 fall season, Monday and Tuesday in Arlington. They will be competing in the 2024 UTA Maverick Classic. They will remain in Texas the week after, traveling to Huntsville to compete in the 2024 Bearkat Invitational Sept. 23-24.
TEXAN FOOTBALL comes off their bye week, following a 35-18 victory at Houston Christian to move to 2-1 on the season. The Texans now travel to North Alabama to face the Lions at 6 p.m. on Saturday. These teams faced off in Tarleton State's 2023 home opener, in which the Texans walked away with the 52-31 victory. Texan Football finally returns to Memorial Stadium the following week, hosting Southeastern Louisiana for Family Weekend, where there will be free t-shirts available for early arriving fans.
TARLETON STATE SOCCER split their road trip this past week, ending on a high note with a 2-0 victory over Houston Christian. The Texans return to Stephenville to close out nonconference play against Southeastern Louisiana at 11 a.m. on Thursday. This will be a Pastries on the Pitch matchup, as Cold Smoke will be at the Tarleton Soccer Complex to provide free drinks and pastries to fans as they attend the game. The Texans have a slight break in the season, as their next game is not until Sept. 28 when they begin conference play at home against Utah Valley.
TARLETON SPORTS RADIO SHOW features Texan Football head coach, Todd Whitten, and Texan Volleyball head coach, Mary Schindler, weekly through November. The Todd Whitten Show, presented by Triple Crown Ford, will be hosted every Thursday in the lobby of Triple Crown Ford, located at 2975 W. Washington St. in Stephenville from 12-12:30 p.m. Lunch will be provided to those in attendance to all Todd Whitten Shows. The Mary Schindler Show, presented by Peacock's Restaurant and Santo Propane, will be hosted every Monday at the Tarleton Student Center from 12-12:30 p.m. The shows will air on the flagship of Tarleton State Athletics, KTRL 90.5 FM in Stephenville, Texas, and worldwide at TarletonSports.com/Watch.
