STEPHENVILLE, Texas – Tarleton State Soccer was unable to battle back against Oral Roberts dropping a 2-1 tilt on Thursday night at the Tarleton Soccer Complex.
The Texans (3-2-3) were unable to answer back both of the Golden Eagles (2-4-0) first half goals, despite multiple second half scoring chances.
For the second time this season,
Jenaya Brown was called on for the penalty kick and knocked it in. Brown chose the upper left for her second goal of the season in the 57
th minute.

Mikayla Kendall registered eight saves in the contest, her second most this season.
In the first three minutes of the contest,
Stevie Reynolds nearly put the Texans on the board first. Reynolds beat the Golden Eagles keeper and clipped the side post, keeping the game tied at zero.
The Golden Eagles struck first scoring in the sixth minute. After grabbing a loose ball in midfield, Julia Thasaphong found Audrey Weir who deposited the Golden Eagles' first goal of the game.
Oral Roberts netted their second goal of the game in the 30
th minute. Haley Nichols found Carys Torgesen at the corner of the net on a header to give ORU a 2-0 advantage.
In the first two minutes of the second half,
Nicole Fels beat her defender for a one-on-one with the goalie on the side of the net. Fels fired but hit the side of the net that ricochetted out of play.
Reegan Wagg sent a shot full force rifling towards the goal, but it lifted just over the crossbar.
For the second time this season, the Texans drew a penalty kick after a card was given to ORU in the box on a Texan corner. Brown was the Texan penalty kick option once again for Tarleton. This time, Brown chose the upper left corner and found the net, to cut the Texan deficit to 2-1.
Brown nearly netted her second goal of the game finding the bottom corner of the net, but the ORU keeper was able to get her hands on it to keep the score 2-1 in favor of ORU.
In the final three minutes, the Golden Eagles fouled the Texans just outside the box, resulting in a free kick for
Jaycie Bass. Bass fired past the wall, but it was deflected out negating the scoring chance for the Texans.
The Texans controlled the ball in the attacking third for the final minute but was unable to get one to fall in the back in the net, resulting in a 2-1 victory for the Golden Eagles.
The two teams tied at seven corners apiece, with the Golden Eagles taking the advantage in shots, 14-10.
Tarleton will hit the road to close the week in Louisiana against Grambling State at 11 a.m. on Sunday morning at the GSU Soccer Complex.
