STEPHENVILLE, Texas – Tarleton State Soccer travels to Grambling State for a Sunday morning match at the GSU Soccer Complex at 11 a.m. to begin a three-game road trip.

Tarleton started the week with a 2-1 loss to Oral Roberts in Stephenville. The Texans faced a 2-0 halftime deficit, before scoring a second half goal to pull within one with 20 minutes remaining.
Jenaya Brown notched her second PK goal of the season. The Purple and White were unable to scratch another goal across despite multiple scoring chances in the final minutes of the contest.
Last weekend, the Texans notched a pair of road victories. On Friday night, the Texans knocked off Prairie View A&M, 3-0.
Stevie Reynolds notched a goal and assist against the Panthers to record her first three-point game as a Texan.
Reegan Wagg scored her first collegiate goal and
Una Hlynsdóttir notched her second goal of the season. Reynolds notched her second goal in as many games netting the lone goal of the game against Texas A&M-Commerce.
Goalkeeper
Mikayla Kendall leads the WAC with 651 minutes played, the most by any goalie. She touts a 0.74 GAA with 40 saves. She is credited with two solo shutouts and two combined shutouts with
Rylie Bloomfield. Kendall ranks eighth among active D1 goalkeepers with 5.38 saves per game
The Texans rank 36
th in the nation with 15 total goals. That makes the Texans alone at the top of the WAC. Tarleton ranks 48
th in the NCAA with 39 points. The Texans lead the league in points. The Purple and White are 36
th in the NCAA in goal differential, +10 which also leads the conference. TSU leads the WAC in shots on goal per game (7.38). The squad ranks second in the league in shots per game (15.00), corners (5.88), fouls (7.25). The Texan goalkeepers rank 24
th in the nation and second in the WAC with a .896 save percentage.
Jaycie Bass leads the WAC and ranks in the top 50 in the NCAA with three assists.
Lauren Grissom tops the WAC with four goals and is third with eight points.
Head coach
Pete Cuadrado is in his 21
st season as a collegiate head coach with Tarleton his third stop on his journey. He started his career at North Dakota State before spending time at Wyoming. During his career, he has amassed 181 wins, with 13 of those coming in the first three seasons of the Tarleton program.
Cuadrado retained both of his assistants from the previous two seasons and added a new face to the staff ahead of the 2024 campaign. Assistant coaches
Rex Carrell and
Delaney Castor will be on the sidelines for their third season, while Carrell was also a part of the building of the team in 2021, marking 2024 his fourth year with the program. Cuadrado added Stephenville native and retired professional soccer player Bailey Chaviers ahead of the season. Chaviers spent three years at The U, before heading overseas to play two seasons in Iceland. She then returned to the United State for the 2023 season but was injured during the preseason for the Chicago Red Stars.
Tarleton will continue the road trip next week with a pair of road contests. Thursday night, the Texans will return to Louisiana for a match-up against Northwestern State. Sunday, the Texans will conclude the trip closer to home at Houston Christian at 1 p.m.
