STEPHENVILLE, Texas - Tarleton State Women's Soccer dropped to Southern Utah 0-2 in Thursday night's Purple Out match.
In the 8th minute of play, sophomore Reegan Wagg took the first shot for the Texans from the top of the box but was just high over the crossbar.
Two minutes later, goalkeeper Mikayla Kendall made a great save for TSU. Southern Utah dribbled the ball up the center of the field and took a shot from the top of the box. Kendall dove to the right to make the save, keeping the Thunderbirds off the board.
In the 58th and 59th minute of the match, Southern Utah scored a pair of back-to-back goals to take the 2-0 lead.
The Texans had another good scoring chance midway through the second half. From the right corner of the field, Adelaide Wyrzynski attempted to cross the ball to Gabrielle Williams, but it was intercepted and punched out by the Thunderbirds goalkeeper.
From inside the box, a Thunderbird took a straight shot at the goal, but Kendall made a great glove save to keep the Texans in close range.
18 Texans appeared in the Southern Utah matchup, recording six shots for the night. Kendall made six saves with five coming in the second half.
Tarleton State will be celebrating Youth Soccer Day in their match against Utah Tech on Sunday. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. at the Tarleton State Soccer Complex.
