STEPHENVILLE, Texas — For the first time this season, Tarleton State Volleyball's
Emma Burke was named the WAC's Player of the Week, as announced by the conference office on Tuesday afternoon.
For the first time this season, a Texan has earned the WAC's weekly honor. Burke notched her first this season and her first in her Tarleton State career. Burke helped lead the Texans to a 3-2 victory over ACU on Saturday in Abilene. The senior led the Texans with 14 kills and produced a match-high nine blocks. She led the conference with the most total blocks in a match this week. Burke also ranked third this week in total kills in a match.
Saturday marked the second time this season that Burke has notched nine kills in a match. It is also the 11th time this year that she has tallied at least five total blocks. The Godley, Texas, native, has registered at least five blocks in every WAC match this season and each of the last six. Burke is just one of two players in the WAC to have a pair of games with at least nine total blocks. She currently ranks second in the WAC in conference play, averaging 1.71 blocks per set.
Burke led the Purple and White with 14 kills on Saturday. She registered her second match with double-digit kills this season. Burke hit .500 on the match, 14-for-22. She also added three digs and a service ace in the victory over the Wildcats on Saturday.
Tarleton State Volleyball will be back in action on Oct. 25 at home against California Baptist on Texan Volleyball Volloween. The match starts at 1 p.m. with trick-or-treating pregame. Fans are also encouraged to wear their best costume to participate in the Volloween costume contest.
