This marks Tarleton State's second WAC Tournament appearance and first since 2023. That season, the Texans were a 6-seed and gave 3-seed UTRGV all the Vaqueros could handle before losing in five sets. The Texans are in search of their first conference tournament victory since 2019, when they defeated Texas Woman's in the second round of the Lone Star Conference Championship Tournament.
Tarleton State finished the 2025 regular season just a match behind the co-champions, Utah Valley and Utah Tech. The Texans won seven of eight matches to close the regular season, including a six-match winning streak, their longest run since Sept. 12-23, 2023.
With a win on Thursday, Tarleton State will match its D1 record number of wins in a season at 16. The Texans already have their most conference wins in a single-season in their D1 era, their most since 2019. The Lancers enter Thursday's match with two straight losses and six losses out of their last seven contests. They just played in Abilene in their most recent match, falling 3-0 at ACU on Thursday.
