Tarleton State Baseball announces 2026 schedule

STEPHENVILLE, Texas – The Tarleton State Baseball season is looming, as the Texans will start their 54-game regular season campaign on Feb. 13. Tarleton State announced its full 2026 schedule on Thursday.

The Texans will play exactly half of their games at home in 2026, with 27 games set at the Tarleton State Baseball Complex. There will be other close matchups, as well, with Tarleton State playing at Globe Life Park in Arlington against Arkansas on Feb. 16, then a three-game slate in Cleburne against Creighton (twice) and Texas State Feb. 27 through March 1. The Texans will also play at Texas in Austin (March 17), at Lamar in Beaumont (March 24), at Baylor in Waco (March 31), at UT Arlington in Arlington (April 2-4), at TCU in Fort Worth (April 14), at Texas Tech in Lubbock (April 21), and at Texas A&M in College Station (April 28).

Highlighted non-conference home games for the Texans include South Dakota State (Feb. 20-22), Baylor (March 3), Air Force (March 27-29) and UTSA (April 7) before conference play.

Ticket details for Tarleton State Baseball's 2026 season will be announced soon.

"This is one of the more competitive schedules we have assembled and we can't wait to get the 2026 schedule underway," Tarleton State Baseball head coach Fuller Smith said. "We play some of the best teams in the nation who routinely make deep runs in the postseason, as well as hosting high-level programs right here in Stephenville. We are excited to bring high-level baseball to Stephenville, Texas, and we can't wait for Texan Nation to come out and support these fine young men compete at the highest level."

The Texans will open 2026 at the Tarleton State Baseball Complex on Feb. 13, the first day of a three-game series against Le Moyne out of the Northeast Conference. That means a lovely day of baseball on Valentine's Day in Stephenville on Feb. 14 and the series finale on Feb. 15.

It's four straight days of play for Tarleton State, who then heads to Arlington to face the Arkansas Razorbacks at Globe Life Field on Feb. 16. That game is part of the Amegy Bank College Baseball Series. The Razorbacks were just the No. 3 overall seed who advanced to the 2025 College Baseball World Series semifinals.

Tarleton State is back home for four more the following weekend, with three games against South Dakota State (Feb. 20-22), and a single game against UIW on Feb. 24. They'll welcome back WAC Tournament champion and former Tarleton State assistant coach Nick Zaleski, who is now the head coach of the Cardinals.

From Feb. 27 through March 1, the Texans will be one of four teams playing in the 2026 College Baseball Series in Cleburne, along with Texas State, Creighton and Abilene Chrisitan. The Texans will take on Creighton twice (Feb. 27 and March 1), and Texas State once (Feb. 28) at La Moderna Field.

Then on March 3, the Texans will host the Baylor Bears for the first time in Stephenville. That means Tarleton State will play the first 12 games in the state of Texas in-and-around the Stephenville area, going as far as Arlington 90 miles away.

On March 6-8, Tarleton State will play its first true road games at New Mexico, a four-game slate in Albuquerque. Last season the Texans swept the four-game series in Stephenville, with a walk-off in the final game.

On March 10, the Texans will return the favor against UIW and face the Cardinals in San Antonio for a midweek game, then return home for a three-game weekend series against Houston Christian March 13-15.

On March 17, the Texans will head to Austin to clash with the Texas Longhorns. Texas was the No. 2 overall seed last year in the NCAA Tournament.

Tarleton State will take on former WAC rival Stephen F. Austin in Nacogdoches for three games March 20-22, then head to Beaumont to play a Lamar squad in a Tuesday midweek clash on March 24.

On March 27-29, Tarleton State will host Air Force for three games, then play at Baylor in Waco March 31, before opening Western Athletic Conference play against UTA April 2-4 in Arlington on Easter weekend.

The Texans will host UTSA on April 7, a Roadrunners team that advanced to the Super Regionals last season.

Tarleton State welcomes rival Abilene Christian for three games April 10-12, then heads to Fort Worth to play the TCU Horned Frogs April 14. This will mark the fifth time in five seasons the two teams will square off.

The Texans will host California Baptist for three games April 17-19, then play at Texas Tech the following Tuesday in Lubbock on April 21. On April 24-26, the previous two WAC Tournament champions will lock horns as the Texans host Utah Valley.

On April 28, the Texans will head to College Station to face the Aggies, then over to St. George, Utah, to play at Utah Tech May 1-3. Tarleton State's final regular season home series will be against UTRGV May 8-10, then the final regular season series at Sacramento State in Sacramento May 14-16.

The WAC Tournament will return to Mesa, Arizona, home of the Oakland Athletics spring training facility, on May 20-24.
