Huidobro places in the top 10 for second time of the season in Bandon Dunes Invitational

BANDON, Ore. – Tarleton State Men's Golf senior Alvaro Huidobro picked up his second top 10 finish of the season, placing sixth at the Bandon Dunes Invitational this week.

Huidobro recorded six birdies in the tournament and had an eagle in the first round on the No. 18 hole. The Spaniard led Tarleton State to its best finish as a team, with the Texans coming in seventh with an 891 54-hole team score. The Texans finished ahead of ACC school Boston College and WAC opponent Utah Tech.

Sophomore Juan Ballester recorded his best finish as a Texan, tying for 13th for his first top 20 finish of the season. Ballester shot an even par in the final round, with his 71 18-hole score marking his lowest round score of the season.

Senior Carson Gallaher continued his strong performance, finishing in the top 25 on the player leaderboard for the third consecutive tournament. Gallaher, the WAC Men's Golfer of the Week on Feb. 27, finished tied for 21st in the Bandon Dunes Invitational. He shot a 1-over-par in the tournament's final round and collected a 54-hole score of 223.

Freshman Drew Ironside finished tied for 61st with a 233 54-hole score while fellow freshman Kellen Young tied for 71st with a 235 54-hole score. Grayson Traweek finished with a 241 54-hole score in his Texan debut as an individual.

The Texans will have a month off from tournament action and will compete in their next tournament April 12-13 at the Aggie Invitational hosted by Texas A&M.
