Buech leads Tarleton State Men’s Golf in Oregon State Invitational

SALEM, Ore. – Sophomore Luis Buech collected Tarleton State Men's Golf's first-ever Division I hole-in-one in competition and led the Texans' leaderboard in the Oregon State Invitational that concluded Wednesday at the Illahe Hills Country Club.

Buech obtained the Texans' first hole-in-one since the program was reinstated in 2022. The historic shot came in Wednesday's third round on the No. 5 hole on a Par 3 that ranged 148 yards.

The Berlin, Germany, native finished as the top Texan of the tournament, tying for 27th overall with a 54-hole score of 222. Buech matched his highest leaderboard performance of the season and has topped the Texans' player leaderboard in three events.

Sophomore Kellen Young shot an even par 72 in the third round and compiled a 54-hole score of 224. Young was the Texans' second-highest finisher on the player leaderboard, coming in a tie for 40th.

Sophomore Drew Ironside shot a season-low 18-hole score in the second round, collecting a 2-under-par 70. He finished with a 54-hole score of 225 to tie for 44th.

Freshman Maximilian Bjornstrom compiled a 54-hole score of 226 to tie for 48th. Junior Juan Ballester finished tied for 53rd with a 54-hole score of 227.

Tarleton State finished 10th as a team with a 54-hole score of 892. Boise State captured the team title, edging host school Oregon State by seven strokes.

The Texans wrap up the fall portion of its schedule Oct. 27-28 at the FAU Invitational in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida.
