SAN MARCOS - Tarleton State Baseball (17-24) will face off against the Texas State Bobcats (19-20) for a midweek matchup on Wednesday evening.
The Texans will look to keep their win streak going after beating Utah Valley during the final two games of last week's series.
SERIES HISTORY:
- This will be the second all-time matchup between the Texans and the Bobcats.
- Texas State took the first game 2-1 in Stephenville, Texas.
- The last time these two squads faced off, Trace Morrison had a team-high two hits.
- Tyson Drake, who leads the team in home runs this season, also registered a hit.
- Jake Burcham received the start against the Bobcats on 3/12/24, tallying two strikeouts and no runs in two innings of work.

- The Bobcats dropped their most recent series last week against South Alabama, 2-1.

LORCH NOTCHES FIRST CAREER HOMER:
- Last Saturday against Utah Valley, Carson Lorch tallied his first career home run en route to a 12-6 Texan victory.
- Lorch posted a hit in all three games of the series.
- He also posted five RBIs in those three games along with three runs.
- Through 27 games, the junior has a .302 batting average on 10 extra-base hits and 17 runs.
MITO HEATS UP AGAIN:
- Jaime Perez had three hits against the Wolverines last weekend, including a home run on Sunday.
- Perez tallied a run in two of three games, helping the Texans achieve their second conference series win of the year.
- Following last week's series, the senior has 28 RBIs on the year in 35 appearances.
- The senior ranks second on the team in walks (16).
- Perez is the seventh toughest player in the nation to strike out. He averages one strikeout per 17.9 at bats.
SHIREY NAMED TO BROOKS WALLACE AWARD WATCH LIST:
- Senior shortstop Ike Shirey was named to the Brooks Wallace Award Watch List last week.
- The award honors the top 100 shortstops in the nation.
- Shirey has 46 hits on the year and ranks third among the team with a .317 batting average.
- He leads the team in assists (112) and double plays (22).
- Shirey ranks second on the team in steals, going 12-13 on steal attempts this season.
MCCLOUD TALLIES THREE MULTI-HIT PERFORMANCES:
- Tarleton State senior Slade McCloud had three multi-hit performances through four games last week.
- This included a two-hit performance against former No. 1 ranked Texas A&M where McCloud went 2-4 with an RBI and a double.
- He also posted a team-high three hits during last Saturday's victory against the Wolverines, including a home run.
- McCloud leads the team with a .346 batting average and also has a team-high 56 hits.
- McCloud is the only Texan to record 50 or more hits this season.
