STEPHENVILLE, Texas — Following Tarleton State Football's first appearance on ESPN2 a season ago, the Texans will be back on ESPN2 again this season.
To start the year on Week 0, Tarleton State faces Portland State on the road, a game that will be broadcast on ESPN2. The game will be played at Hillsboro Stadium in Hillsboro, Oregon, on Saturday, Aug. 23, at 3:30 p.m. CT (1:30 p.m. PT).
Tarleton State made their debut last year on linear television on the ESPN family of networks, hosting their Week 0 game against McNeese on ESPN2, with part of the game making it on ESPN.
The matchup between the Texans and Vikings is one of just nine Week 0 games across NCAA Division I between FBS and FCS, one of five featuring an FCS program, and one of four between two FCS programs.
Currently, the Tarleton State game is slated to be the third game to open the first day of college football nationally, with Iowa State and Kansas State starting at 11 a.m. CT in Dublin, Ireland, followed by Incarnate Word at Nicholls at 12 p.m. CT (Idaho State at UNLV does not a game time yet).
