Tarleton State Baseball Earns 2024-25 ABCA Team Academic Award

STEPHENVILLE, Texas – The American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) recognized Tarleton State Baseball with the ABCA Team Academic Excellence Award for the 2024–25 academic year, marking the program's second consecutive year earning the honor.

The award, presented by Sports Attack, celebrates high school and college baseball programs coached by ABCA members that achieve a cumulative team GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale.

"I'm incredibly proud of our team for continuing to excel not just on the field, but in the classroom," said head coach Fuller Smith. "This recognition reflects the dedication of our student-athletes and the culture of academic accountability we strive for every day."

Tarleton State Baseball's continued academic success would not be possible without the outstanding support from the university's academic support staff. The program is especially grateful for the time, guidance, and commitment from Chelsea Stone, the team's athletic academic coordinator. Her efforts play a vital role in helping student-athletes stay on track and reach their academic goals.

In addition, the program extends its appreciation to Dr. Megan O'Quin, Executive Senior Associate Athletic Director, for her leadership and unwavering support. Her commitment to the success of Tarleton Baseball, both on and off the field, continues to strengthen the program's foundation and growth.

To be eligible for the Team Academic Excellence Award, a program must meet the following criteria: the head coach must be a current ABCA member, and the team must maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.00 on a 4.00 scale (not rounded). Programs from NCAA Divisions I, II, and III, NAIA, junior colleges, and high schools across the nation are recognized annually.

Tarleton State Baseball joins hundreds of programs nationwide in receiving the honor, continuing to build a culture of academic and athletic excellence under Coach Smith and staff's leadership.
