STEPHENVILLE, Texas — Tarleton State senior forward Stevie Reynolds was tabbed the first WAC Offensive Player of the Week this season as announced by the conference office on Tuesday afternoon.
Reynolds becomes the Texans' first weekly honor selection of the season after notching a trio of goals across the first two Texan matches last week. She fired just three shots across the pair of games but made them all count, scoring a goal on each shot. She is just one of two players in the nation to have at least three goals and scored on each shot that she has taken joining Western Kentucky's Camryn Davis.
The Tarleton State senior leads the WAC and is tied for 19th in the nation with three goals. Reynolds is the only player in the conference to record multiple goals in the first week of the season. She leads the league in total goals, goals per game, shot accuracy, points and points per game. The forward is tied 11th in the nation with six total points.
The senior scored the only goal of the contest on the road against the Vaqueros to give the Purple and White a 1-0 opening night shutout victory. The forward showed out on the second game of the season, the home opener against Houston Christian on Sunday. Reynolds notched a pair of goals for the Texans, accounting for all three goals Tarleton State has scored this season.
After tallying three goals to start the season, Reynolds is tied for second in program history in career goals scored. She recorded five last season to total eight goals during her time as a Texan to tie teammate, Avery Harr. The duo is each just three goals shy of the career program record, 11 total goals. The selection is Reynolds first WAC weekly honor after joining the program last season.
Tarleton State will be back in action with a pair of games this week. The Texans will host Northwestern State on Thursday in part of the Back 2 School Bash. The Purple and White will close the week with a contest on the road at Texas Southern on Sunday at 6 p.m.
