Tarleton State Women’s Basketball debuts EECU Center with Big 12 foe K-State Oct. 27

STEPHENVILLE, Texas – Tarleton State Women's Basketball opens its first-class EECU Center with a first-class opponent, taking on 19-time NCAA Tournament qualifier Kansas State on Monday, Oct. 27 at 7 p.m.

K-State, a 2025 Sweet 16 team, finished ranked No. 13 in the final Associated Press Top 25 poll last season. The Wildcats are the first women's basketball team from a Power 4 conference to visit Stephenville and the highest nationally-ranked team to play at Tarleton State.

The exhibition game sponsored by Barefoot Campus Outfitter is the first meeting between the two schools in program history.

Season ticket holders will have the first opportunity to purchase extra tickets for the marquee matchup on Tuesday, Aug. 26 at noon, with the exhibition game being included in each season ticket package. Tickets to the general public will go on sale on Wednesday, Aug. 27 at noon.

"We are excited the K-State Wildcats will make their first-ever trip to Stephenville and help us open the 2025-26 season and the EECU Center on Monday, Oct. 27 at 7 p.m.," head coach Bill Brock said. "K-State coach Jeff Mittie is one of the most respected coaches in NCAA Women's Basketball and has developed outstanding programs at TCU and K-State. His teams are always tough defensively and shoot the basketball extremely well. Having a Power 4 team the caliber of K-State coming to Stephenville is special and hopefully our fans will come out to view the EECU Center and enjoy a great evening of basketball."

The Texans, who finished with a Division I program record 20 wins en route to its first-ever Division I postseason bid last year, will play its first season in the EECU Center. Finishing second in the WAC, Tarleton State received an automatic bid to the WNIT and played its first-ever Division I postseason game at Wisdom Gym on March 23, 2025. Led by 2025 All-WAC guard Jakoriah Long, the Texans return three letterwinners from last year's squad and welcome 11 newcomers.

Season tickets are on sale now and start at just $50. Combination season ticket packages for both Men's and Women's Basketball begin at $125 and are available for purchase by calling the Tarleton State Ticket Office at 254-968-1832.

Prior to Oct. 19, the newly-constructed arena will have a pair of non-sporting events. Comedian Leann Morgan will take the stage on Sept. 7 and country-singer Koe Wetzel will perform on Sept. 13. The EECU Center will offer seating for nearly 10,000 for concerts and up to 8,000 for basketball games. The $125 million two-story multipurpose arena will host events including NCAA Division I basketball, symposiums, conferences, concerts and conventions.

Tarleton State will play nine home games in Western Athletic Conference play starting Dec. 29. The non-conference schedule will be announced at a later date.
