Texan Soccer continues road stretch with UTEP matchup

STEPHENVILLE, Texas - Tarleton State Women's Soccer continues their road stretch with their matchup against UTEP this Thursday at University Field in El Paso, Texas at 8 p.m. This will be their first meeting in program history.

Thursday's game will be streamed on ESPN+, with stats provided by StatBroadcast. Follow @tarletonsoccer on Instagram, X and Facebook for live updates, highlights and content.

The Texans got a win on the road this week, shutting out Texas Southern 4-0 in their first meeting in program history. The Texans outshot the Lady Tigers 20-4, totaling nine shots on goal and 14 corner kicks compared to Texas Southern's two shots on goal and two corner kicks. Senior Stevie Reynolds scored two goals for Tarleton State, while seniors Avery Harr and Kaitlyn Flanagan each scored one. Goalkeepers Emma Barnes and Mikayla Kendall each played one full half of the game, and each recorded one save for the Purple and White.

Reynolds set the new single game shot record with seven shots and tied the single game shot on goal record of five shots on goal. She has scored five of the seven goals for the Texans this season and is currently one of 12 players in the country to have scored five goals in the 2025 season as of Aug. 27. Reynolds was recently named the WAC Offensive Player of the Week for week one. She was the only player in the WAC to score multiple goals in one game through week one and was one of 35 athletes to score at least three goals in the first week. She led the conference in game-winning goals, goals per game, points per game, total goals, and total points during week one and moved to second in program history for total goals scored in her Tarleton State career.

Mikayla Kendall, a senior goalkeeper from Orange, California, is in her fourth and final season with the Texans. The nationally ranked senior has been a key player over the past three years, totaling 106 saves in the 2024 season. In a recent release, Kendall was named one of 13 women's Division I goalkeepers to watch ahead of the 2025 season by the United Soccer Coaches. She is the only goalie selected from a university in Texas. Kendall was also named to the 2024 United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division I Women's All-Pacific Region Second Team.

Head coach Pete Cuadrado is in his 22nd season as a collegiate head coach and his fourth season with Tarleton State. He began his career at North Dakota State before moving to Wyoming in 2012, and then to TSU in 2021. Cuadrado currently has 188 career wins, securing 20 of those with the Texans.

11 new athletes have entered the program for the 2025 season, as well as 16 returning Texans. TSU's 27-woman roster includes seven international players from two different countries: Australia and Canada.

Eight current Texans have been pillars in building the foundation of the program, competing with Tarleton State Women's Soccer since its beginning in 2022. These athletes include Mikayla Kendall, Rylie Bloomfield, Avery Harr, Kyra Goudzwaard, Kaitlyn Flanagan, Teeghan Dodd, Jaycie Bass and Macy Hellwig. All eight athletes are now academic seniors and will be graduating during the 2025-2026 academic year.

The 2025 WAC conference schedule consists of 10 games, with only six teams being active members in the league this year. The 2025 WAC Tournament will be hosted by Utah Valley and will be held at UCCU Stadium in Orem, Utah from November 5-8.

Tarleton State will return home to begin their five-game homestand, starting with Incarnate Word on Sunday, Aug. 31 at 1 p.m at the Tarleton State Soccer Complex.
