STEPHENVILLE, Texas - Tarleton State senior midfielder Jaycie Bass was named the WAC Offensive Player of the Week as announced by the conference office on Tuesday afternoon.Â
Bass is now the second player in just three weeks to receive a weekly honor for the Texans. The senior joins Stevie Reynolds as the other Texan to win the honor. The award marks Bass' first weekly honor as a Texan in her four-year career for the Purple and White.Â
Bass earns the weekly honor after scoring two goals for the Texans during Sunday's matchup against Incarnate Word. With two out of her three shots being on goal, she was able to find the back of the net for both of them, helping Tarleton State to gain a 4-1 win. Â
The senior put the first score on the board for the Texans with the help of Reynolds. In just the 12th minute of the game, Bass passed the ball over to Reynolds at the top of the box. Reynolds immediately passed the ball back to Bass, who fired a shot into the left side of the net.Â
In the 51st minute, Bass scored the third goal for the Texans, this time with an assist by Sammy Schulze. After receiving the ball from Schulze, Bass crossed the ball from the right sideline to find the back of the net.Â
The San Antonio, Tex., native, has started the last four games for Tarleton State, recording a total of 238 minutes played this season. The senior has notched a pair of goals and an assist to record five total points in the first six games of the season. She is the fourth person to score multiple goals in a game in program history, as it has only been done a total of six times. Reynolds accounts for three of those, two occurring earlier this season.Â
The Texans continue their five-game homestand on Thursday against Texas A&M - Corpus Christi at 7:30 p.m. Fans in attendance will receive purple rally towels while supplies last. Then on Sunday, Tarleton State will host their Bounce Back Brunch for their matchup with McNeese at 1 p.m.Â
