Anderson wins 2nd UAC Offensive Player of the Week honor, Brown named UAC Defensive Player of the Week for Tarleton State

STEPHENVILLE, Texas — After a top-10 ranked road win for Tarleton State, the Texans brought home more hardware from the conference office.

The United Athletic Conference announced on Monday that Tarleton State quarterback Kaden Anderson has been named the UAC Offensive Player of the Week, and linebacker Kaleb Brown has been named the UAC Defensive Player of the Week. That makes two UAC Offensive Player of the Week awards this season for Anderson, and for Brown, his first.

Tarleton State Football has now earned eight conference player of the week honors this year.

Anderson completed 22-of-34 passes for 347 yards, three touchdowns, one interception, plus rushed for 19 yards, in Tarleton State's 40-32 road win at No. 8/9 Austin Peay. Anderson was the only player across the UAC last week with multiple touchdown passes, plus was the only player with 300+ pass yards. Anderson spread his touchdown passes across three different receivers, and his 22 completions across seven different receivers. This was his third straight game with 3+ pass touchdowns, and his fourth overall on the season. He now has 15 pass touchdowns on the year, tied-ninth most in the FCS and most in the UAC (next closest at 12). Anderson logged his third 300+ pass yard game of the year across six contests. Now at 1,693 pass yards on the year, Anderson ranks tied-ninth in the country and most in the UAC. Anderson led the Texans to their best ranked win in their NCAA Division I era, their second ranked win on the road (2023 at No. 18 Central Arkansas). It was the first top-10 matchup in UAC history.

Brown had two sacks, a forced fumble and four total tackles in the road win. Brown was the only player in the UAC last week with 2+ sacks. He became the first Texan with 2+ sacks and a forced fumble in nearly a calendar year (Angelo Anderson vs. West Georgia on Oct. 18, 2025). He is the first Texan to record two sacks in a game this season, the first since AJ Owens had two sacks against North Dakota on Dec. 6, 2025. Brown is now tied-56th in the country in sacks per game at 0.5, tied-third in the UAC.

The Texans improved to 6-0 to start the season and began conference play 1-0. Tarleton State is one of four teams in the FCS still undefeated on the year, along with Lehigh, SFA and Harvard. Tarleton State is No. 1 in the FCS in total offense (509.7 YPG), tied-fifth in scoring offense (39.5 PPG) and sixth in passing offense (300.8 YPG). The Texans have started 6-0 for the second straight season, their first such stretch since 2018-19. They went a combined 23-2 in those seasons. Since the beginning of 2025, the Texans are 17-1 in the regular season. Tarleton State is 12-1 over its past 13 regular season games on the road, dating back to 2024. The Texans improved to 3-0 all-time against Austin Peay and snapped the Governors' 10-game home winning streak, which dated back to 2024. The Texans are now 9-1 in their conference opener since 2016.

Other UAC awards announced on Monday were Eastern Kentucky's Devin Orr named UAC Special Teams Player of the Week and EKU's Ryder Hooks as Freshman of the Week.
