LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — Tarleton State Soccer earned a draw in Little Rock on Sunday to maintain its even record in conference play.
The Texans (3-3-6, 1-1-1 UAC) and the Little Rock Trojans (2-5-3, 0-1-2) tied 3-3 at Coleman Sports Complex in Little Rock, Arkansas, on Sunday afternoon. Tarleton State's offense stayed hot, now with 17 goals over the past six matches (2.8 goals per), but the Trojans tied their season-high in goals to make it a draw.
This was the first meeting in series history.
The Texans scored the go-ahead goal in the 83rd minute,
Zahra Friess' fifth of the season, but Little Rock countered nearly immediately, tying the match in the 84th minute, a Laney Palmer goal.
Tarleton State's
Jessica Baires scored the Texans' first two goals, her fourth and fifth of the season, her first in the sixth minute to open the scoring in the match, and the other in the 61st minute to tie the match 2-2. Baires has 16 points over her last six matches (2.7 points per), with a six-match streak of scoring a point, accumulating five goals and six assists.
Friess had a three-point match with her goal and an assist on Baires' first goal.
Adelaide Wyrzynski had two assists, an assist on the second and third goals. She now has four on the season, second most on the team behind Baires' seven.
Like the final scoreboard, the match was even across the board. Each team attempted 13 shots, eight on goal for Tarleton State and seven for Little Rock. The Trojans committed nine fouls to the Texans' seven, and Little Rock had five corners to Tarleton State's one.
Rylie Bloomfield played in goal all 90 minutes for the Texans for the ninth straight match, earning four saves with three goals allowed.
Also playing the entire match for Tarleton State were
Zoe Ballard and
Grace Berry.
Zoe Daly led the Texan bench with 57 minutes played.
Little Rock's goalkeeper Reese Potts had five saves to three goals allowed, playing all 90 minutes. Maggie Tuner had the first goal for the Trojans, and Megan Rogan had the second.
Tarleton State will have two road matches this upcoming week, part of its three-match road trip. The Texans will next play at Austin Peay on Thursday at 7 p.m.
