Tarleton State Tennis hosts third match of the weekend against McNeese Sunday

STEPHENVILLE, Texas – Tarleton State Women's Tennis will host their third match for the weekend on Sunday at 10 a.m. against McNeese at the Tarleton State Tennis Facility.

In 2025, the Texans defeated the Cowgirls 5-2 on March 18 in Lake Charles at the Nancy Hanks Tennis Center for their seventh consecutive victory. Their seventh straight win matched the longest win streak in the Division 1 era.

The Cowgirls are led by the former assistant coach for Tarleton State, Sonia Carlson. Carlson spent four successful seasons at Tarleton State, where she contributed to the team winning a WAC Championship and tournament title appearances in her last two seasons. She also coached 14 All-Conference selections, one of whom was WAC Player of the Year and one Freshman of the Year.

The Cowgirls tennis assistant also includes Noelia Lorca, who also has a background from Tarleton State as a program alum herself. Head Coach Elianne Douglas-Miron commented on Noelia Lorca in 2025 after her outstanding match as a Texan against the Cowgirls.

"Noelia was impressive today and she really does bleed purple. She isn't scared to put everything on the line," Douglas-Miron said.g."

The Cowgirls have a 3-0 record for the Spring season thus far. The Cowgirls have defeated Alcorn, Sam Houston, and Lubbock Christian for the early season. The Texans have won 14 straight matches at home and are coming off a doubleheader sweep on Friday, defeating Oral Roberts (5-0) and Collin College.
