Tarleton State Tennis wins 18th straight home match, defeats Hillsdale 7-0

STEPHENVILLE, Texas – Tarleton State Tennis won its 18th consecutive home match with its 7-0 victory over Hillsdale on Tuesday at the Tarleton State Tennis Facility.

Tuesday's win put the Texans at an undefeated 7-0 mark at home in 2026. Tarleton State has not lost a home match since the 2023-24 season.

The Texans did not lose a match on Tuesday, with five players picking up wins in both singles and doubles. Senior Ximena Morales led the Texans by not losing a single game in singles or doubles. After her bagel at No. 2 doubles with fellow senior Emma Persson, Morales earned her second double bagel of the season on Court 4 in singles.

Sophomores Maria Castano and Duru Kuscu helped the Texans clinch the doubles point with their 6-2 win at No. 3 doubles, with freshmen Aya Ishii and Marissa Minetti completing the Texans' doubles sweep with a 7-6(3) win on Court 1. Tarleton State has now won the doubles point in five straight matches.

Minetti's momentum continued in singles play, with the freshman only losing one game en route to a 6-0, 6-1 win on Court 5. Persson helped the Texans clinch the match shortly after Morales got Tarleton State's third point. The senior from Sweden defeated Julia Zlateva 6-3, 6-3 at No. 3 singles to give the Texans the win.

Both teams would play out the rest of the matches, senior Adeliya Mukhutdinova picking up her fifth win of the season with a 6-4, 6-1 decision on Court 6. Ishii obtained her 12th singles win of the season at No. 2 singles before Castano capped off the day with a 6-3, 6-2 win over Briana Rees on Court 1.

"The team was very focused from the beginning and I'm really proud of the girls' progression throughout the semester," assistant coach Abigail Wild said. "Hillsdale is a tough team to play and we got the job done. The girls are doing an excellent job of protecting their home court. We're always looking to improve every day and as soon as we're all back from Spring Break, it's straight back to work."

Tarleton State is off from action for Spring Break and will return to the courts with a road trip to St. George, Utah, next weekend. The Texans will take on Montana and WAC foe Utah Tech in a doubleheader on Saturday, March 28 starting at 10 a.m.
