Tarleton State’s Rayner Heinrich named WAC Baseball Player of the Week

STEPHENVILLE, Texas — Outfielder Rayner Heinrich earned WAC Baseball Player of the Week honors after a dominant week at the plate and in the field.

Heinrich batted 10-for-18 (.556) with two home runs, two doubles, six RBI, seven runs scored, and one stolen base. He also posted a .619 on-base percentage and maintained a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage on 11 chances in the outfield.

"Rayner had a really good week for us and continues to improve each and everyday," head coach Fuller Smith said.

The sophomore outfielder led the Texans in nearly every offensive category for the week, including hits, runs, doubles, home runs, RBI, and total bases. He recorded a hit in all four games, posting three multi-hit performances. His best game came on Sunday, when he went 4-for-5 with a home run, a double, three RBI, and three runs scored. On Friday, he added a 3-for-3 showing with a home run, an RBI, and two runs.

Tarleton State went 3-1 on the week, highlighted by a home series sweep against Air Force, and now improves to 19-8 overall and 7-0 against Mountain West Conference opponents. The Texans played three extra-inning games during the week, going 2-1, with walk-off victories on Saturday and Sunday.
