Tarleton State Tennis wins sixth straight match with victory at Tyler JC

TYLER, Texas – Tarleton State Tennis dominated the courts once again, defeating Tyler Junior College 7-0 on Wednesday at the Murphy Tennis Center.

The Texans picked up their sixth consecutive victory and won their 31st straight point in the process. Tarleton State has not lost a point since March 15 and has captured 38 of 40 points in its last six matches.

Four Texans won matches both in singles and doubles on Wednesday, with freshmen Aya Ishii and Marissa Minetti along with senior Ximena Morales not losing a set. Ishii and Minetti, the reigning WAC Doubles Team of the Week, won their 13th match as a duo. Morales and senior Emma Persson picked up a bagel on Court 2 to help the Texans clinch the doubles point for the eighth straight time.

After getting it done in doubles, the Texans stayed the course and never looked back. Following Ishii and Minetti's straight sets singles wins, Morales stepped up once again. The senior from Guatemala won six of the final seven games on Court 4 to come away with a 6-3, 6-1 win over Sylvie Peart. Persson continued to help the Texans stay on track, winning 6-4 in the third set to get the victory at No. 3 singles.

Reigning WAC Singles Player of the Week Maria Castano continued her winning ways at No. 1 singles, clinching a three-set victory over Dina Lipovski. Castano also picked up a win in doubles with sophomore Duru Kuscu by walkover. Freshman Dariia Medviedieva also picked up her eighth singles of the win after a walkover on Court 6.

Tarleton State goes on the road for the final time in the regular season on Friday, traveling to La Tech for an 11 a.m. Friday match in Ruston, Louisiana.
