ABOUT THE MATCHUP
  • This is the fourth meeting and second in Corpus Christi. Last time there, the teams played a scoreless draw in 2024. Last season, the Texans won 2-0 at home, with the opening goal scored by Adelaide Wyrzynski just before halftime. Emma Barnes was goalkeeper for 90 minutes, earning a shutout win with two saves.
  • This is the third straight year and fourth time in five seasons that Tarleton State's season opener is on the road (1-0-2 in previous).

QUICK HITS
  • Now in its fifth season of competition, Tarleton State has been on the rise over the past couple of years. The Texans went 16-15-9 over the past two years after their first two years of going 10-21-6.
  • Tarleton State Soccer's coaching staff is completely new for the first time since the program started in 2021 (first season of competition in 2022). Erik Solberg enters his first year as head coach of Tarleton State after spending the past two seasons as head coach at Gardner-Webb (2024-25), four seasons at Arkansas Pine-Bluff (2020-23), one season at Northwestern Oklahoma State (2019), and three at East Texas Baptist (2016-18). On his staff is former Ouachita Baptist head coach Chris Lawson and former Missouri Southern head coach Sadé Boswell.
  • Among Tarleton State's 22-woman roster, 12 are returners, with Riley Bloomfield a member for all five of the Texans' playing seasons. Isa Bergeron-Prejean and Emma Barnes are the next longest-tenured Texans, now in their fourth season in Stephenville.
  • The Texans scored 35 goals last season, and just 8.5 percent (three goals) of that production returns, with Adelaide Wyrzynski scoring a pair (one against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi) and Zoe Ballard adding the other.
  • Among Tarleton State's 10 newcomers, five are transfers. Two of the five played for Solberg last year at Gardner-Webb; Peyton Bryant and Bailey Pottratz. Both played in all 17 games for the Bulldogs.

UP NEXT
The Texans will return to Stephenville for their home opener against UTEP on Thursday, Aug. 20 at 7 p.m. The Texans will host a "Back 2 School Bash" during the match to celebrate the start of the Fall 2026 semester. Free food and drinks will be provided pregame for early arriving fans. There will also be a tailgate party atmosphere with a DJ and games like water pong, giant tic-tac-toe and cornhole.
