Hines, Aubert named UAC Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week after win at Bowling Green

STEPHENVILLE, Texas — Through two games, Tarleton State Football has already earned three conference player of the week honors.

On Monday, the United Athletic Conference named Tarleton State running back Tylan Hines the UAC Offensive Player of the Week, and defensive back Jadan Aubert the UAC Defensive Player of the Week.

Hines rushed for 250 yards on 26 carries (9.6 YPC), and added 47 receiving yards on two receptions to reach 297 yards from scrimmage in Tarleton State's FBS road win 20-13 at Bowling Green on Saturday. Hines' 250 rush yards are the most rush yards in a single-game across both FBS and FCS this season. The next closest is 227 by Duke's Nate Sheppard against Tulane on Sept. 5. Hines' 250 rush yards Saturday are the tied-fifth most in a single-game in Tarleton State Football program history. He had two different rushes reach 70-plus yards, an 83-yard rush in the fourth quarter and a 72-yard rush in the second quarter. Hines has the most rush yards this season across the FBS and FCS, now at 434. The next closest is Colgate's Danny Shaban at 308. Hines is averaging the most rush yards per game in the FCS this season at 217.0 YPG. The next closest is at 163.0 by Texas Southern's Athean Renfro. Hines is averaging the sixth most yards per carry in the FCS at 8.51.

Aubert had two forced fumbles and eight tackles in Tarleton State's win. Both of Aubert's forced fumbles resulted in Texan takeaways, and his two forced fumbles are the most in a game across the FBS and FCS this season. His two forced fumbles are also the most in a game by a Texan since 2023 (Blake Smith vs. North Alabama on Sept. 9).

The No. 4 Texans have started the season 2-0, becoming the 16th FCS program to win consecutive FBS games since the FBS/FCS labels were created in 2006.

Hines and Aubert join Texan kick returner DeAndre Buchannon in earning UAC player of the week honors, as Buchannon was named UAC Special Teams Player of the Week after the Texans' first game against Prairie View A&M.

Other UAC awards announced on Monday were West Florida's Ty'Ray Davis also named Offensive Player of the Week, Abilene Christian's Alex Broome as Special Teams Player of the Week, and North Alabama's Xavier Johnson as Freshman of the Week.
