Jacob Kemp

Jake Kemp will begin his third season at Tarleton in 2023, this year working with the defensive backs as a Defensive Assistant.
 
Kemp coached one season as a Graduate Assistant Linebackers Coach at Fort Hays State University in Hays, Kansas, in 2020. Although the Tigers did not play any games due to the COVID-19 pandemic, they did play a spring season that included a joint practice and two scrimmages against other NCAA Division II foes.
 
Kemp was the quarterback at Concordia University, Nebraska, from 2018-19, where he was the team captain. In 2019, he threw for 1,802 yards, the fifth highest single-season total in school history, with eight touchdowns on 149-of-265 (.562) passing. He owns the second most 300+ yard passing games in school history (two) and the school record for most passing yards in a half. He threw a career-high three touchdowns, with 296 passing yards, against Dakota Wesleyan on Oct. 12, and followed that up with a career-high 316 passing yards (29-of-41, one touchdown) against Northwestern (Iowa) on Oct. 19.
 
The Decatur, Texas, native attended Decatur High School where he helped the Eagles to a 9-2 record, district title and state playoff appearance in 2015. He graduated from Concordia in 2020 with a degree in recreational sports management. Kemp is scheduled to receive his master’s degree in kinesiology from Tarleton in 2022.
