Chad Head is entering his first season as Tarleton Football’s Director of Recruiting and Player Development in 2023, his third year with the program altogether. Head previously served the Texans as the Director of Football Operations in 2020 and as a Graduate Assistant Football Coach in 2019, working with the offensive line and tight ends.
Head returns to Stephenville after spending the last two years as the wide receivers and a special teams coach at Midland High School in Midland, Texas.
For the Texans in 2020, Head managed all operations, travel, budgets, recruiting events and development responsibilities during the COVID-19 pandemic campaign. In 2019 as a GA, Head helped Tarleton to its second consecutive undefeated regular season and outright LSC Championship, assisting coach Scott Carey with the offensive line and tight ends, specifically. The Texans boasted the second-best offense (531.7 YPG) and the fourth-best scoring offense in the nation (45.0 PPG) with a balanced attack of 248.0 rushing yards per game and 283.7 passing yards per game. All five starters from the offensive line were named All-LSC while three (J.P. Pierre, Noah Perez and Cody Hayes) earned All-America recognition.
Head originally joined the Texans after spending four years at Austin College, where he was a quarterback for three seasons before transitioning to the sidelines as a student assistant coach for the defensive backs. A native of Athens, Texas, Head graduated from Austin College with a bachelor’s degree in history in 2018 and earned his master’s degree in kinesiology at Tarleton in 2020.
He and his wife, Emma, reside in Stephenville.
