Bailey Wipff

Bailey Wipff

When the 2020-21 basketball season begins, Bailey Wipff will begin her second season as an assistant coach forĀ Tarleton. Wipff moved into a full-time assistant coach role after a three-year playing career for Tarleton and two years as a graduate assistant under head coach Misty Wilson.

In Wipff’s first year of coaching, Tarleton won 20 games for the first time since 2013-14 and advanced to the LSC Tournament Championship game for the second consecutive season. Tarleton then earned an at-large bid to the NCAA playoffs.
Ā
In Tarleton State’s final NCAA Division II season, Wipff helped lead the Texans to a third consecutive 20-win season with a 21-8 overall record. Tarleton went 15-7 in the final LSC season, with a 11-5 record in Wisdom Gym.

As a graduate assistant, Tarleton went 22-9 and advanced to the NCAA regional tournament for the third straight year. Wipff has been a part of all three NCAA tournament appearances for Wilson as a head coach (two as a graduate assistant, one as a player).Ā
Ā
Wipff enjoyed a three-year playing career with Tarleton, all under head coach Misty Wilson, where she etched her name in the record books. She finished her career with the second-most three-point field goals made (161) and attempted (422) in Tarleton history. Her .382 career percentage from downtown has her ranked No. 6 all-time. She played in 83 games at Tarleton, starting 75 games, and scored 978 points for an average of 11.8 per game on a .410 percentage from the floor.
Ā
In her final home game, Wipff connected for two of the biggest points of her career while standing alone at the free throw line in front of a packed house at Wisdom Gym and a national audience on WatchESPN.com. In a tie game against Angelo State on ESPN3, a technical foul was called in the final seconds and Wipff went to the line and drained the go-ahead free throws to deliver a win in the program’s first-ever nationally broadcasted game. Less than a month later, she scored 18 points against Angelo State in Allen to lead a Tarleton comeback in the championship game of the LSC Tournament.
Ā
She was a two-time second-team All-Lone Star Conference selection, a two-time academic All-LSC selection, a three-time LSC Commissioner’s Honor Roll selection, the LSC Academic Player of the Year, an LSC Scholar-Athlete, and Tarleton’s 2017 NCAA Division II Woman of the Year nominee in her career.
Ā
Wipff came to Tarleton after a one-year stint at Howard College following her four-year career at Lubbock Coronado High School. Wipff graduated with her undergraduate degree in 2017 and is currently pursuing a master’s degree in curriculum and instruction.
