Texans set to return to action Saturday

ADA, Okla. – After a nine-day delay from basketball, the Tarleton Texans will return to action at East Central on Saturday, Dec. 12 at 8 p.m.

The Texans are 5-1 this season and are coming off a 61-47 win at home against Northeastern State on Thursday, Dec. 3.  This will be the first road trip of the season for Tarleton.

Corin Henry leads the Texans with 14.0 points per game, 33 assists and 13 steals.  #Jeremiah Wilson# is second with 11.2 points per game while he leads the squad with 8.0 rebounds per outing.  Also averaging in double digits is Effran Bryant and Devon Hills with 10.2 points per game each.  Wilson also tops the squad with 12 blocks and a .581 shooting percentage from the field.  #Donta Smith is second in rebounding with 7.2 boards per contest while Wale Ogunoye# is third with 4.3 rebounds per outing.

Tarleton is averaging .454 from the floor, .454 from the three-point arc and .603 from the charity stripe while opponents are shooting .372 from the field, .336 from the arc and .642 from the line.  Tarleton is outscoring foes 71.0 to 55.7 and outrebounding them 36.2 to 33.8.

The Tigers are 2-3 on the season and are coming of a 100-94 loss at home to Dallas Baptist.  The Patriots also defeated ECU in Dallas to open the Tigers' season, 97-86.  ECU has scored 100 points in three of its five contests in 2009.

Eric Allen leads the team with 24.0 points while Maurice Abraham (18.8), Wayne Andrews (14.4) and Dontae Figgs (12.6) are averaging in double digits as well.  Andrews leads the team in rebounds with 9.8 boards per game while Allen is second with 7.2 boards per contest.

ECU is averaging .475 from the field, .349 from the arc and .641 from the line while opponents are averaging .479 from the floor, .313 from the arc and .750 from the stripe.  The Tigers are outscoring opponents 100.8 to 97.2, but they are being outrebounded 45.2 to 41.0. 

The two teams have met 13 times with the TexAnns winning 13 times, including a 62-56 win last season on Jan. 3 in Stephenville.  The only ECU win was on Dec. 1, 1990 in Durant, Okla. (62-58), but since, the Texans have won the last 12 meetings.

The game will be broadcast on KSTV 93.1 FM.
