STEPHENVILLE – The TexAnn volleyball team defeated the Cardinals of Incarnate Word 3-1 Saturday afternoon in Wisdom Gym South.
Tarleton improved their record to 17-7 on the season, including a 4-4 Lone Star Conference mark. They also maintained their perfection at home, going 9-0 thus far this year with only two home games remaining.
The TexAnns hit a .230 attack percentage as a team, while holding Incarnate Word to a .190 mark.
Tarleton's offense was led by Irelis Ilrazza, who had 15 thunderous kills, and Rachel Wolf, who collected 12 kills, while hitting an effective .320 percentage. Jessie Hartman contributed 25 assists for the TexAnns, with Danielle Barker adding 19 more.
The defense was anchored by Shea McBrearty's 18 digs, followed by Hartman's 11 digs in the contest.
Incarnate Word was piloted offensively by Daniella Vidaurri with 10 kills, while Chelsea Grayson and Stephanie Bonura both added nine kills. Danielle Suarez and Sarah Cardenas both had 21 assists in the match for the Cardinals.
On defense, Incarnate Word received 12 digs from Beth Soukup and Spencer Ladd, while Daniella Vidaurri compiled five block assists.
The TexAnns will head to Edmond, Okla. next on Thursday, Oct. 21 to take on the Wildcats of Central Oklahoma at 7 p.m.
