Tarleton volleyball defeats Southwestern Oklahoma, improves to 19-7

WEATHERFORD, OKLA. – The TexAnns won their fifth straight match with a 3-0 victory over the Bulldogs in Weatherford, Okla. Saturday, Oct. 23. 

With game scores of 25-17, 28-26, and 25-17, Tarleton cruised through Southwestern Oklahoma, pushing their record to 19-7 on the season, and 6-4 in the Lone Star Conference.

The TexAnns hit a .271 percentage in the match, while recording eight blocks as a team. Monica Hamel had seven block assists herself, while Shea McBrearty, who had 12 digs, and Rachel Wolf, who had eight digs, added to the defensive stronghold of Tarleton.

The offense was led by Flynn Harrell and her 10 kills, while Irelis Ilarraza provided nine kills. Jessie Hartman contributed 18 assists and Danielle Barker collected 12 assists for the TexAnns.

Southwestern Oklahoma hit an abysmal .094 attack percentage, but did manage to match Tarleton with eight blocks.

LaKendra Sanders anchored the Bulldog offense with 11 kills, while Callie Martin added 14 assists and Brooklyn Hendry added 11 assists.

Sladjana Simic recorded 12 digs, leading Southwestern Oklahoma's defense.

The TexAnns finish up their road trip Tuesday, Oct. 26 in Odessa, taking on UT-Permian Basin in their final non-conference match of the season.
