TexAnn Tennis scratches Friday's action, matches moved to Saturday

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. - Due to inclement weather in the Arkansas area, Friday's tennis matches have been canceled and moved to Saturday, Feb. 13. No matches have been scheduled for Sunday.

The No. 20 TexAnns were originally set to face Southern Arkansas and Drury on Friday, but the match with SAU has been scratched for the time being. Instead, the TexAnns will face Drury on Saturday at 8 a.m. before finishing out the day against Ouachita Baptist.

Drury is currently ranked one spot below the TexAnns at No. 21 in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) national rankings. The Panthers advanced to the NCAA quarterfinals a year ago, but fell to Abilene Christian. Drury lost three players from last season's team, but return a solid line-up including their top players from last season.

"The weather has affected our workouts," Tarleton head tennis coach Lance Drake said. "Drury has and indoor facility and have been able to work out all week. This is the big concern for us going into the weekend and it will make for a real challenge.

The TexAnns will end the day with OBU, where the Tigers will be a challenging match for the TexAnns playing indoors.

"OBU always has a unique way of showing support for at their indoor complex and it can be a major distraction to visiting teams and players," Drake said. "You have to focus on your match and not get caught up with everything going on and that is a tough thing to do in that environment. We do not get many opportunities to play indoors, but it is fun when we get the chance."
