Tennis set to host MSU on Wednesday

STEPHENVILLE – The No. 20 Tarleton TexAnn tennis team will host No. 36-ranked Midwestern State this Wednesday, April 7, for a Lone Star Conference match at Potishman-Lard Tennis Courts on the Tarleton campus.

 

The TexAnns are coming off a pair of LSC victories last weekend in Durant, Okla., where Tarleton ousted hosts Southeastern Oklahoma (7-0) before downing Central Oklahoma (7-2) in a neutral court setting.

 

Tarleton improved to 12-5 overall this spring and are in second-place in the conference with a 4-1 mark in LSC matches.

 

The Mustangs are coming off a pair of losses in LSC action last weekend, falling 5-1 to Northeastern State and then 5-2 to Cameron in Lawton, Okla. MSU is 11-7 on the spring and 1-4 in LSC play.

 

Senior Evgeniya Prokofeva leads the way for the TexAnns with a 13-6 record in singles play in the spring. Her doubles teammate, Jade Charlot, is 11-7 and the duo has teamed up to go 13-4 in doubles action.

 

Adrianna Jaskova is currently 10-6 in singles action, while doubles teammate Carole Julen is 12-6. The duo is a combined 11-6 in doubles action.

 

Rocio Cabanillas is 12-6 in singles action and her doubles teammate, Mariana Fretias, is 7-9. The two have combined to go 6-12 in doubles play this spring.

 

The TexAnns and Mustangs will lead off the match with doubles play, and first service on Wednesday is set for 2 p.m. in Stephenville.
