TexAnns fall at ACU

ABILENE – The Tarleton TexAnn volleyball team dropped its second straight match Saturday with a 3-0 Lone Star Conference match at Abilene Christian in Abilene.

Tarleton fell to 9-2 on the season and 0-2 in the LSC after dropping the three games, 25-18, 25-21 and 25-8.  ACU improved to 8-2 and 2-0 in conference action.

The TexAnns hit .034 in the match and no Tarleton player had double-digit kills as Irelis Ilarraza, the reigning LSC Hitter of the Week, had nine kills and a .231 attack percentage to lead the team.  Three TexAnns with double-digit attacks hit a negative percentange.

Jessie Hartman led the squad with 11 assists while Danielle Barker had seven. 

Shea McBrearty led the team with 14 digs while Barker (11) and Rachel Wolf (10) had double figures in the same category.

Tarleton had just two blocks in the match.

The Wildcats were led by Jennie Hutt with 10 kills and a .261 hitting percentage while Ijeoma Moronu had 30 assists to top the home team.  Kalynne Allen and Jordan Schilling had 12 digs apiece to tie for the team lead. 

ACU hit .283 as a squad and had eight total blocks.

Tarleton will return to action on Monday, Sept. 20 at St. Edward's in Austin.  The match is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
