TexAnns to face UCO and NSU on the road

RETURNING TO ACTION
The Tarleton TexAnns will return to action on the road and will be looking to remain perfect on the road this season (3-0). 

Tarleton will play at Central Oklahoma at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 6 in Edmond, Okla. before traveling to Northeastern State for a 2 p.m. tip-off in Tahlequah, Okla. on Saturday, Jan. 8.

LEADING THE PACK
The TexAnns are sitting atop of the Lone Star Conference South Division standings with a 9-1 record.  West Texas A&M is the closest team to Tarleton with a 6-5 record this season.

LEADING THE TEXANNS
Shelby Adamson leads the team with 17.9 points per game followed by Morgan Stehling with 11.5 points per outing.  Kiara Wright leads the squad with 6.8 rebounds per contest while Kelsey Benford is second with 6.3 boards per game.

Adamson also leads the team with 35 assists while Sonya Sundberg is second with 33.  The duo is also first and second in steals with 27 and 14, respectively.  Benford leads the team with 16 blocks.

TEXANN SHOOTING

Tarleton is averaging .416 from the floor, .312 from the three-point arc and .686 from the charity stripe.

SHOOTING DEFENSE

The TexAnns are holding opponents to .396 from the field, .294 from the arc and .603 from the line

OUTING THE OPPONENTS
Tarleton is outscoring foes 71.7 to 58.1 and outrebounding them 37.8 to 36.2 this season.

NOW ON SPECIAL
Tarleton is outscoring opponents 22.4 to 12.8 in points off turnovers and 31.8 to 22.2 in the paint.  The TexAnns are also outscoring foes 14.0 to 8.5 on second chance points.

COMEBACK TEAM
The TexAnns have trailed by double-digits in two games this season and came back to win.  Tarleton was down by 18 against Texas Woman's with 17:44 left in the contest and came back to win 73-71 before overcoming an 11-point deficit against St. Mary's.  The Rattlers led by 11 with 14:57 left in the contest, but the TexAnns rallied for a 64-57 victory.

FRESHMAN GLORY
Tarleton freshman Kiara Wright is one of the top freshmen in the Lone Star Conference. She leads the team in rebounding (6.8) and is averaging 6.3 points per game.  She is No. 12 in the LSC in rebounding this season.

IN THE CONFERENCE

The TexAnns are No. 2 in the Lone Star Conference in scoring defense (58.1) behind Northeastern State (51.9).  The TexAnns lead the LSC in scoring margin (+13.6) and are No. 5 in the league in scoring offense (71.7) behind Southeastern Oklahoma (75.7).

Tarleton is No. 1 in turnover margin (+5.80) after being tied for No. 2 with 9.3 steals per game.  The TexAnns are No. 4 in assist/turnover ratio (0.9).

The TexAnns are tied for first in offensive rebound percentage (.375).

INDIVIDUALS IN THE LSC

Shelby Adamson is fourth in the Lone Star Conference in scoring (17.9) while Morgan Stehling (11.5) is No. 24.  Kiara Wright is No. 12 in rebounding (6.8) and Kelsey Benford is No. 16 (6.3).

Adamson is No. 2 in steals per game (2.7) and Sonya Sundberg is No. 3 in assist/turnover ratio (1.6).

SCOUTING THE BRONCHOS
The Bronchos of Central Oklahoma are 6-4 heading into Thursday's game after an 80-71 loss at home against Arkansas-Fort Smith on Dec. 30.

Ashley Beckley leads the team with 20.7 points and 8.4 rebounds per game while Alyssa Fuxa (14.7) and Courtney Allen (10.0) are also averaging in double figures.  Fuxa is second in rebounding with 6.2 per outing.

The Bronchos are averaging .416 from the field, .347 from the arc and .708 from the line while opponents are shooting .400 from the floor, .349 from the arc and .685 from the stripe.  UCO is outscoring foes 73.8 to 69.2 and being outrebounded 39.3 to 37.9.

SCOUTING THE RIVERHAWKS
The RiverHawks are ranked No. 7 in the country in the USA Today/WBCA national poll.  NSU is 9-1 on the season and is coming off its lone loss of the season, losing at NCAA Division I Oral Roberts on Monday, 83-57.

The RiverHawks are led by Taylor Lewis with 13.5 points per game while Jasmine Webb is second on the team with 13.2 points per game.  Webb leads the squad with 8.4 rebounds per outing and Cristy Nitz is second with 4.7 boards per contest. 

NSU is averaging .456 from the field, .395 from the arc and .669 from the line while opponents are shooting .356 from the floor, .273 from the arc and .652 from the stripe.  The RiverHawks are outscoring opponents 63.8 to 51.9 and outrebounding them 35.8 to 31.2.

ALL-TIME SERIES

Central Oklahoma leads the all-time series, 12-10.  Tarleton is 3-6 in Edmond, Okla.  The TexAnns took last year's meeting on Dec. 1, 2009 in Stephenville, 85-55.  The last UCO win came on March 4, 2009 in the LSC tournament in Bartlesville, Okla., 66-63. The last TexAnn win in Edmond came on Jan. 11, 2007 (68-54).

Northeastern State leads the all-time series (9-5) after taking last year's game in Bartlesville, Okla. in the second round of the LSC tournament, 74-62.  Tarleton had won at home earlier in the year on Dec. 3, 2009 (56-42).  The TexAnns have never won a game against the RiverHawks in Tahlequah, Okla. in five different tries.
