STEPHENVILLE - Tarleton State (13-8, 7-2) handled Incarnate Word (9-9, 5-6) in four sets on White Out Wisdom day at Wisdom Gym in Stephenville.

Tarleton opened the match by splitting the first 14 points with UIW before reeling off 10-1 run started with a kill by Audra Vaello to make the TexAnn lead 17-8 and force a UIW timeout.

Out of the break, UIW answered with a brief 4-1 run to bring the score to 18-12 before Flynn Harrell ended the streak with a kill.

Incarnate Word built a slim lead over the beginning of the second set to lead 11-7. but Vaello struck again with a kill to start a 4-0 run to knot the score at 11-11.

UIW score four of the next seven points to take a 15-14 but Tarleton's Katie Covell tied it at 15-15 with her first kill of the set.

Covell's kill started a 5-0 that was strengthened with three straight aces by Nikki McNorton and a UIW error, forcing another UIW timeout.

UIW got to within two, but couldn't get closer as Tarleton ended the set on a 6-4 run to claim the set.

The Lady Cardinals took control of the third set from the get-go, opening with a brief 3-1 run. The TexAnns bounced back to take a 7-6 lead before UIW responded with three straight points to force a Tarleton timeout at 7-9.

The teams went back-and-forth over the next 22 points, to knot the score 19-19 before UIW struck for a 6-3 run to end the set 25-22.

UIW took control over the beginning of the fourth set as well, forcing a Tarleton timeout at 8-9.

The TexAnns took advantage of a pair of UIW errors and started a 5-2 run to claim a 13-11 lead.

UIW bounced back to retake the lead 18-17 - in what would be their final lead of the afternoon - before a Covell kill started a 6-0 run to put Tarleton on top for good. The TexAnns scored the final two points on kills from Covell and Murrah.

Murrah led the TexAnns with 13 kills while Vaello and Covell added 10 each. McNorton and Harrell tallied seven apiece.

Jessie Hartman led the TexAnns with 25 assists while Danielle Barker amassed 23. Emily Klein and Hartman led the team with 14 and 11 digs, respectively.

Tarleton hosts Texas Woman's for the third game of its current five-game home stand Tuesday at 7 p.m. in Wisdom Gym.
