Game notes
STEPHENVILLE - No. 3 Tarleton will host Texas A&M-Kingsville for their second meeting this season. The Texans are riding a 16-game winning streak while the Javelinas have dropped five in a row. Tarleton defeated A&M-Kingsville earlier this season in a close 72-70 showdown. The Javelinas will want revenge on the Texans as they fight to stay alive in the postseason race. Tarleton on the other hand must continue to stay hungry despite clinching a berth in the LSC Championships.
GAMETIME
Tip-off is at 8 p.m. for the men's game and 6 p.m. for the women's game in Wisdom Gym.
LAST WEEK
The Texans (19-1, 11-0) picked up their second win over a ranked team this season when they defended their home court against a very tough No. 10 Midwestern St. team, 79-75. The Mustangs stormed back late, but Tarleton held them off. The Texans also remain undefeated in Lone Star Conference play with a perfect 11-0 record.

Fabian Wilson is adding 11.6 points and 6.7 boards per contest, while Shedrick Haynes contributes 11.3 points and 3.6 assists each game.
SIZING UP THE OPPONENT
Texas A&M-Kingsville has struggled as of late, losing their last five contests. The Javelinas are 3-8 in LSC play and still have a shot at the postseason. They face a daunting task though of taking on the No. 1 defense in the nation in Tarleton on their home court.
STOPPING THE JAVELINAS
As a team, the Javelinas are shooting 42.2 percent from the floor, 34.2 percent from three-point range and 71.3 percent from the free throw line. TAMUK is averaging 69.1 points per game holds opponents to 69.3 points a game. This is the third worst scoring margin in the league.
Tarleton leads the all-time series 29-21 and has won the last five meetings between the two teams.
WHO TO LOOK FOR
Kingsville is led offensively by Ashton Brown's 15.2 points per game and 96.6 percent free throw shooting, which leads the nation. Robert Williams is also averaging 15.2 points per game to go with 6.6 rebounds each contest. Marcus Ford and Ryan Layssard are also threats for the Javelinas.
TAMUK ranks towards the bottom in the conference in most statistical categories, but they do rank No. 1 in free throw percentage (71.3%).
AMONG THE BEST
The Texans are ranked near the top of almost every statistical category in the conference.
Tarleton is No. 1 in scoring defense (54.5 ppg) and No. 1 in scoring margin (+16.4). The Texans are also No. 1 in field goal defense (.362), No. 1 in three-point field goal defense (27.3) and No. 2 in rebounding defense (29.7).

NO. 1 DEFENSE
Tarleton finished the 2010-11 season as the No. 1 defense in the nation. That was not only at the Division II level, but also in Division I, III and Junior College ranks. This year's team has big shoes to fill, but has held opponents in check thus far as opposing offenses have averaged just 54.5 points per game. That is good enough for No. 1 in the nation again at the DII level.
REMAINING IN THE RANKINGS
Tarleton was ranked No. 8 in the NABC/NCAA Division II Preseason Polls and No. 1 in the Lone Star Conference Preseason poll.
The Texans are now No. 3 in the nation and have a solid hold on No. 1 in the LSC standings.

The Texans will host A&M-Kingsville Wednesday then head out on the road for and LSC showdown with Incarnate Word on Saturday.
