STEPHENVILLE - Tarleton's Nikki McNorton, Emily Klein and Danielle Barker will look to continue their way up Tarleton's single season record lists as the TexAnns head south for the weekend to face-off with LSC rivals Texas A&M-Kingsville and Incarnate Word.
The TexAnns will open their weekend road trip in Kingsville for a battle with the Javelinas before wrapping up Saturday afternoon with a 2 p.m. bout at Incarnate Word.
Kingsville enters the game having won two straight and four of its last five with the only loss coming against Tarleton last Tuesday in Stephenville. Tarleton trails the all-time series 17-19 but has won four straight.
Incarnate Word, on the other hand, has struggled by dropping three straight and seven of its last eight. Tarleton trails the all-time series against the Cardinals 12-17, but has won four straight including a five-set thriller in Stephenville earlier this season.
The TexAnns enter the weekend ranked No. 9 in the South Central Region and No. 2 in the Lone Star Conference.
As Tarleton looks to maintain its pace atop the conference and the region, a trio of TexAnns will continue their climb to the top of the Tarleton record books.
Last Saturday, Klein passed Sharon Lister for fifth place on the all-time single-season digs list with 468 this season. She is now 12 shy of passing Kim Franklin for fourth and 22 shy of Shea McBrearty's third-place spot. McBrearty also holds the top two places in this category.
Barker currently has 921 assists on the season and is now 75 shy of passing Didi Ebert for fifth all-time. With 79 more assists, Barker would become one of just five players in TexAnn history to record 1,000 assists in a season.
McNorton is currently on track to move up in all three blocking categories - solo, assists and total blocks. With 44, 87 and 131 blocks, in each respective category, McNorton is nine solo blocks shy, five assisted blocks and 19 total blocks shy of moving into fifth place in each category.
The TexAnns are set to begin at 7 p.m. Friday night from Kingsville. Links to the live stats from both contests can be found here.
