- Box Score

ABILENE – The Tarleton baseball team defeated Abilene Christian Sunday afternoon at Crutcher Scott Field in Abilene by a final score of 10-8.

The Texans rallied from an 8-3 deficit with seven runs in the final three innings of the ball game.

Tarleton jumped right out of the gate with two runs in the top of the first.  Blake Silguero continued his strong weekend with an RBI double to open the scoring.  He eventually came around to score on an error, making it a 2-0 contest.

ACU would answer though and scored a single run in the first and three runs in the third to take a 4-2 lead heading into the
fourth.

The Texans pulled back within a run after Chris Patton scored on a double-play in the top of the fourth.

The Wildcats would pull away further though in the fifth and sixth with one run and three runs respectively.

Down 8-3, Tarleton had to get something going if it was going to avoid a series split.  The Texans were able to do just that though with three runs in both the seventh and eighth innings.  Andy Wolfe's sacrifice fly in the ninth capped off a seven-run Tarleton rally, as the Texans took the series with a 10-8 finale.

Austin Coble (1-2) got his first win of the year after 1 2/3 shutout innings in relief.  Britt Robertshaw got his fifth save of the season and third save of the weekend with two shutout innings as well.

Silguero and Jonathan Schmitz led the offensive attack for Tarleton with two RBI's apiece, while Ryan Small, Garrett Hardey, and Andy Wolfe also provided RBI's.  Silguero and Noah Ringenberger both had multi-hit games for the Texans with all nine batter recording at least one hit in the game.

Tarleton (21-19, 12-12)will remain on the road for their final non-conference game of the season.  The Texans will take on Texas Wesleyan Tuesday in Fort Worth.
