Season Stats LSC Standings
STEPHENVILLE - Tarleton (8-4, 3-1) continues Lone Star Conference action with a one-game home hiatus Tuesday night against Incarnate Word before heading back out for a weekend road trip at West Texas A&M and Eastern New Mexico.
The TexAnns are coming off a week in which they traveled to San Angelo and Abilene, where they went 1-1 including a win at Abilene Christian for the first time since 1998 and just the second ever win in Abilene in school history.
In the sweep of ACU, Nikki McNorton led the TexAnns with 11 kills and no errors on 21 attacks for a hitting percentage of .524. For the season, McNorton is tops on the team with 117 kills and hitting percentage with .358, among players with more than 50 total attacks.
McNorton is now third in the LSC in hitting percentage, in addition to leading the conference in total blocks (63), solo blocks (19) and blocks per set (1.54). Danielle Barker is also in the top 10 of the conference in assists with 374 on the season.
Tuesday night, Tarleton hosts Incarnate Word for a 7 p.m. match at Wisdom Gym. This marks the Cardinals' second trip of the season to Stephenville after participating in the Tarleton Invitational, where they went 3-1, earlier this month.
UIW is 5-7 on the season and 2-2 in Lone Star Conference play, including two straight road wins against Midwestern State and Cameron. They are led by the LSC dig leader, who has 5.35 digs per set through 40 sets this season.
Tarleton trails the all-time series against UIW 17-11, but have won three straight against the Cardinals dating back to Oct. 16, 2010.
Friday night, Tarleton travels to Canyon where they take on the LSC Preseason favorite West Texas A&M at 7 p.m. WT enters the game ranked No. 5 in the nation
The Lady Buffs (12-1, 3-0) enter the week on a 12-game winning streak, including wins over ranked opponents No. 10 Metro State, No. 5 Central Missouri and No. 3 Tampa. They are also at the top of the conference in opponent hitting percentage (.095) and blocks (125 and 2.91 per set).
Tarleton trails the all-time series against WT 36-1, but recorded its first win over the Lady Buffs last season to end WT's 87-game conference winning streak.
In the final game of the week Saturday, Tarleton will head west to Eastern New Mexico for a 2 p.m. match.
ENMU is 4-8 on the season and 0-3 in the Lone Star Conference play. As of Monday, the Greyhounds have lost six straight games including LSC games to Abilene Christian, Texas Woman's and Texas A&M-Commerce. The Greyhounds are second in the LSC in service aces with 78 on the season and 1.73 per set. They are also third in the conference in digs at 17.73 per set and second overall with 798.
Tarleton trails the all-time series 23-10, but have won nine straight against ENMU dating back to Oct. 29, 2005.
