STEPHENVILLE -
A pair of surging Lone Star Conference rivals are set to face-off Saturday night for a primetime showdown in Wisdom Gym between the Tarleton TexAnns, winners of nine of their last 10, and the West Texas A&M Lady Buffs, who have won five of their last six.

Tarleton trails the all-time series against the Lady Buffs 27-7 but has found success in recent years. After winning just a total of four games against WT from 1995 until 2010, Tarleton has won three of the past four meetings including a double-overtime thriller in 2011 to secure the LSC South Division title for the TexAnns.

It is Residential Living and Learning as well as Jacksboro night. Tarleton is also hosting its first-ever 'Sock Hop' after the game in the volleyball gym. R.L.L. is giving away socks so bring your ID card and plan for a night of dancing.

Last Time Out

Tarleton rallied from a 10-point, second-half deficit against Eastern New Mexico to come away with a 63-61 victory over Eastern New Mexico in Portales. In their first game without Shanae Lowrance and Karli Moore, Tarleton was led by Kiara Wright's 10th double-double of the season (19 points, 13 rebounds) and Cheyenne Berry (17 points, eight rebounds).

Last Year's Meetings

Tarleton split the regular season series with West Texas A&M, winning the Stephenville game and dropping the match in Canyon. In the Stephenville meeting, Tarleton held on for a 69-62 victory on the strength of double-figure scoring performances by Kiara Wright (14), Peyton Adamson (16) and Karli Moore (11). Adamson's 16 points came off the bench against the Lady Buffs, in the only game of her Tarleton career in which she wasn't a starter.

Injury Report: Shanae Lowrance & Karli Moore

Tarleton junior center, Shanae Lowrance, suffered an injury in the TexAnns last outing at Midwestern State. After scoring four points and grabbing two rebounds in seven minutes of action, Lowrance went down with a season-ending knee injury. In addition to the loss of Lowrance, Tarleton's post depth took another hit when Karli Moore was lost for the season with an injury to her right hand.

Honoring a wounded teammate

Following the news of Shanae Lowrance's season-ending knee injury, TexAnn teammate Kiara Wright asked to change jersey numbers for the remainder of the season - trading in her 32 for Lowrance's 33.

Replacing Post Production

Tarleton has the task of replacing two veteran players in the paint after losing 2011-12 LSC all-tournament selection Shanae Lowrance and sophomore reserve Karli Moore for the rest of the season. In the first full game without the injured TexAnn tandem, Tarleton got big contributions from Cheyenne Berry and Erin Sims. Berry replaced Lowrance in the starting lineup and scored 17 points while grabbing eight rebounds with Sims seeing increased playing time and scoring seven points and snagging five boards in 24 minutes of action.

Wright becoming one of Tarleton's best

After 14 games, Kiara Wright has 177 rebounds to give her 618 for her Tarleton career and is now four rebounds shy of passing Ronda Edwards (621) for 9th place on the all-time list and 19 boards shy of passing JoAnne Jones (637) for 8th place. Passing Jones on the all-time list would make Wright Tarleton's all-time leading rebounder in the school's NCAA history. The top seven members of the list competed in the NAIA. She is rapidly climbing up the indivdual rebounding lists. Her 425 career defensive rebounds have her currently in fourth place all-time while her 193 offensive boards are good for 10th place all-time, so far. (NOTE: Rebounds were not kept as a divided statistic at Tarleton until the 1987 season.) Wright has 23 career double-doubles in regular season and postseason contests - 10 this season. She has scored 20 points in three games this season and six times in her career while recording her first 20-rebound game at Midwestern State this season.

Last Time Out for the Lady Buffs

Despite a tightly contested game for the first half against Texas A&M-Commerce, West Texas A&M pulled away from the Lions over the final 18 minutes of game time to win 72-51 for their second straight victory and their fifth in six games. West Texas A&M was led by a pair of 20-point scorers - Devin Griffin with 22 points on 8-20 shooting and Casey Land with 21 points on 8-11 shooting from the floor and 5-7 from downtown.
