KINGSVILLE, Texas - The Tarleton Texans (14-6, 7-5 LSC) will closeout its two-game road swing with a Lone Star Conference game against the Texas A&M-Kingsville Javelinas (9-10, 5-7 LSC) this Wednesday, Feb. 13, at Hampton Inn Court in Kingsville. Tip-off is set for 8 p.m. inside the Steinke Center.
QUICK HITS
• The Texans are coming off its season-high sixth straight win, a 75-70 overtime defeat over Abilene Christian on the road.
• Tarleton picked up just its second road victory of the season and both times, the Texans trailed by at least 10 points in the contest.
• The Texans moved into the No. 1 spot in the Lone Star Conference in scoring defense, allowing opponents to score just 58.5 points a game. West Texas A&M is second in the league, giving up 58.9 points to opposing teams.
• The Texan schedule evens out over the final six games of the regular-season. Wednesday's contest will be the first of three final games on the road, while the team returns home this Saturday for its first of three final games to be played inside Wisdom Gym.
ABOUT THE JAVELINAS
• Head coach Pete Peterson is in his 16th season with the Javelinas and has
posted an overall record of 229-203 at TAMUK.
• Peterson served as head coach at Incarnate Word for 11 seasons before
taking over head coaching duties at TAMUK in 1997. Peterson has on overall
record of 453-314 heading into Wednesday's game.
• TAMUK went 12-16 overall and 7-11 in the LSC in 2011-12. The Javelinas
finished seventh in the conference and fell 67-55 to the Texans in the first
round of last season's LSC Championship Tournament.
• The Javelinas are averaging just 64.3 points per game (9th in the LSC), but
are allowing opposing teams to score just 58.4 points (2nd in the LSC).
• With an overall record of 5-4, TAMUK is outscoring opponents by 5.9
points per contest.
• TAMUK is shooting just .429 from the field (9th in LSC), but lead the LSC in
field goal percentage defense allowing opponents to shoot just .357 percent.
• The Javelinas are last in the LSC in free throw percentage (.585), and also
rank last in the LSC in three-point shooting (.306).
SERIES HISTORY
• The Texans are 32-21 all-time over the Javelinas and have won eight consecutive games over TAMUK following Tarleton's 52-46 win over the Hoggies back in January.
• Tarleton has won 21 of the last 23 meetings against TAMUK, with its last
loss coming back on Jan. 14, 2009 (45-51) in Stephenville.

NEW LINE-UP, NO PROBLEM
• The Texans are now 6-1 with the current starting line-up consisting of
Chuck Guy (G, Jr, Fort Worth),
Coleman Furst (G, Jr, Denison),
Brian Word (G, Sr, Baltimore, Md.),
Jon Cathey-Macklin (F, Jr, Milwaukee, Wis.) and
Damion Clemons (F, So, Dallas).
• The only loss this starting line-up has been dealt, was when the Texans fell 69-66 to Eastern New Mexico on the road. The Greyhounds hit a three-pointer in the waining moments to get the victory.
• With this starting line-up, the Texans are averaging 65.2 points per game and are only giving up 53.5 points to opposing teams. A&M-Commerce is the only team to score more than 60 points against this starting line-up. Tarleton won the game game 70-61.
• When the Texans start the game with these players, Tarleton is shooting 44.9 percent from the field and are giving up just 38.5 percent from the floor. The Texans are out-rebounding opponents 34.0 rebounds per game to 29.2 boards per game for the opposing foes.
• Tarleton has 26 blocks in the last six games when this group starts.
THIS “GUY” IS GOOD
• Tarleton's
Chuck Guy is averaging 19.6 points per game in the Texans current five-game winning streak. The junior scored a career-high 25 points this past Saturday and then turned around to pour in a 23-point effort on Wednesday night against Angelo State.
• In the past five games, Guy has dished out 23 assists, averaged 5.2 rebounds per game and has nine steals.
• Guy is shooting nearly 47 percent from the field, which includes a 38 percent effort from beyond the arc. More impressively, Guy is 29-for-35 in the last five games at the charity stripe.
CATHEY-MACKLIN TABBED LSC DEFENSIVE POW FOR SECOND TIME
•
Jon Cathey-Macklin was named this week's LSC Defensive Player of the Week. He averaged 8.5 boards a game, and recorded his best game of the season on Wednesday - scoring a career-high 17 points and pulling down a career-high 11 boards for his first-ever double-double while at Tarleton.
• Cathey-Macklin was also named the defensive POW back on Jan. 21, after he averaged 6.0 boards a game and was a huge part in the Texans allowing opposing teams to less than 55 points a contest and just 39.0 percent shooting from the field that past week..
• The junior forward dominated opposing team's post players to score just a combined 20 points. ENMU's big men scored just four points in the contest and Cathey-Macklin helped limit WT's Donald Sims to just 10 points in Tarleton's 65-50 win over the Buffs.
• Cathey-Macklin became the first Tarleton player to earn LSC weekly honors for the 2012-13 season.
TAKING TO THE ROAD WITH A WIN STREAK
• Tarleton picked up just its second road win of the season the last time it played away from Wisdom Gym, defeating Abilene Christian 75-70 in overtime.
• The Texans wiped away a 12-point deficit earlier this season at Commerce and then came away with the win at ACU to win a second consecutive road contest. Tarleton trailed by as many as 10 points with 13 minutes left to play in the second half.
WINNING AT WISDOM
• The Tarleton Texans are now 329-58 (.850) overall when playing inside the friendly confines of Wisdom Gym under head coach
Lonn Reisman.
• The Texans moved to 203-25 (.890) playing under Reisman inside Wisdom Gym since 2000.
• Since joining NCAA Division II, Tarleton is 256-44 (.853) all-time at home.
NATIONALLY SPEAKING
• The last time national statistics came out, Tarleton ranked 7th in scoring defense. The Texans are giving up just 58.6 points per game to opposing teams. Cal-Poly continues to lead the nation giving up just over 54 points per contest. Tarleton finished the past two seasons leading the country in scoring defense.
• Tarleton ranks 47th in field goal percentage-defense, as opponents shoot just 40.5 percent from the floor.
• The Texans rank 29th in blocks per game, averaging 4.4 blocks against opposing teams.
HOW THE LSC IS STACKING UP SO FAR
• The Texans were picked to win the LSC. Tarleton currently sits alone in fourth place at 6-5, following its win over the Rams on Wednesday.
• MSU, who was picked to finish second, is in first place with a 11-2 record in league play.
• WTAMU's Donald Sims was named the LSC's Preseason Player of the Year; he currently ranks 7th in scoring (14.3 ppg), first in rebounds (8.7 rpg) and first in field goal percentage (.689).
OPENING UP THE LSC SCHEDULE
• Tarleton dropped its LSC opener for the first time since Jan. 14, 2009 with its five-point loss to Angelo State on Wednesday.
• The Texans are now 12-7 in LSC openers since joining the league in 1994.
TEXANS PICKED TO WIN LSC
• The Texans were selected to defend its LSC Championship, earning the No. 1 ranking in the preseason poll released by the league office on Oct. 25, 2012.
• Tarleton received 12 of a possible 29 first-place votes in the poll.
• Midwestern State received 12 first-place votes in the poll as well, but Tarleton took the top spot earning 269 total points to MSU's 262.
TEXANS DEBUT 2012-13 SEASON AT NO. 17 IN NABC PRESEASON POLL
• The Texans finished the 2011-12 campaign at No. 9 in the nation and head into the new season at No. 17 according to a preseason poll released by the NABC on Nov. 2.
• Tarleton was the highest ranked LSC team in the preseason poll. MSU debuts at No. 23 in 2012-13 after finishing No. 5 last season.
• Including the 2012-13 campaign, Tarleton has been preseason ranked inside the top-25 seven times.
TARLETON IN SEASON-OPENERS
• Tarleton snapped a 10-game winning streak in season openers after falling 73-60 to Southwestern Assemblies of God in the 2012-13 opening game. Tarleton fell to 21-4 in season-openers under coach Reisman.
• Tarleton's last loss in a season-opener had come back in 2001 against Wingate (73-83).
REISMAN AMONG WINNINGEST ACTIVE COACHES IN NATION

Lonn Reisman entered the 2012-13 season with a .702 winning percentage, which ranks 12th overall among active coaches in NCAA D-II.
• Reisman's .702 winning percentage ranks 26th overall among active coaches in both NCAA Division I and II.
TEXANS RANKED NO. 1 IN DEFENSE LAST SEASON
• The Texans finished the season ranked No. 1 overall in scoring defense for a second-straight year after allowing opponents to just 56.3 points per game in 2012-13. The Texans allowed just 53.3 points to finish no. 1 in 2010-11.

• The Texans continue its road swing next Wednesday, Feb. 13, traveling to Kingsville to take on the Javelinas at Hampton Inn Court. Tip-off between the two teams is set for 8 p.m. in Kingsville.
